Mal: Yeah, well, just be careful. We cheated Badger out of good money to buy that frippery, and you're supposed to make me look respectable. Kaylee: Yes, sir, Captain Tightpants.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Jesse, how about "column"?

It's bigger than a column/op-ed, is the thing. I don't know what it looked like in the actual magazine, but the printout is 11 pages. I think "essay" is the way to go.

Our wings are not tired.

For Xmas my husband gave me a box, with a hole cut in it, and inside were pictures of Dick Cavett, Dick Van Dyke, Dick Van Patten, Moby Dick, etc.

That is most awesome.

I have to remember to send the link to my parents, once my father has the new computer up and running.

Is your dad's name Dick?

I still have to show that to my household. My brother and his wife mentioned it Christmas Eve, but I couldn't explain to my family or sister because my parents would not have been pleased. Bro and I laughed though.

Ha! No. We just couldn't stop laughing about it, and the parents hadn't seen it yet.

What are people doing for New Year's Eve? Chicagoistas?

I have no plans. Other than possibly eating ice cream and marathoning Heroes all night.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

What are people doing for New Year's Eve?

New baby means we revel in the fact that we can simply sleep in the next day. I expect I'll imbibe some alcohol.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I will do the same thing I have to do every year. Party at the bar, after party at the hotel.

Yeah, I'm not really in the mood for a wild party this year, but I am so down with having a day off.
