I am NOT at work. Currently waiting to check in for my flight tomorrow. It's good when trip to the family home seems too short.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I'm at work. Just as well, as the DH and our guest are going to Monterey Park for Dim Sum today and we are meeting a bunch of folks tonight at Roscoe's for chicken and waffles, and I could not eat that much food in one day.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Happy Birthdays, Birthday People!

And Happy Boxing Day aka Jessica's Favorite Thing About Working For A British Company. ('Cause I have today off. And tomorrow, which is a "Company Day" and Thursday and Friday because I'm taking them as vacation days. Woot!)

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Holy CRAP.

I just realized I'm totally out of smokes. The nearest convenience store is about a half mile away, which is okay, but then I have to cross a busy highway.

Wish me luck.

If I don't make it back, Kristen gets all my porn, and Paula gets the furniture.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's deadsville on boxing day. There should be more boxing at least.

Emmett's off school all this week and next. JZ's brother Chris will be stopping by today to hang out with them. Then they'll come swooping downtown to collect me at 5pm and we'll go visit with EM for an hour. Then to Emmett's godparents for dinner. So we're keeping with the action packed seeing-people pace, at least for today.

Okay, now the stage is set for some volatile action scenes and possibly a car chase.

Hee. I'm sensing this Allyson-sans-smokes movie could go one of two ways, very existential and "without smokes I am bitter, and grumpy", or action adventure with semis barrelling down the highway, and one woman, who alone can face the danger....

Happy Birthday Jesse! And Theodosia!

I am not at work, though I knwo a few of my coworkers are. But I can't imagine getting in at 5AM the day after Christmas, like Shrift's coworkers. WTF?

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

It incenses me when people dismiss the amount of pain I report--I really don't start reporting until pretty late in the game.

yeah, I have that problem myself. Since I don't say anything until its damn near unbearable, people assume that it's not that bad, because they start complaining at the first twinge.

Who gets Ruby?

Dude, don't look at me. Personally I hope she's planning to leave early for vacation or something. I got here about 15 minutes early myself due to extreme lack of people on the bus. And when I stopped to get a mocha? Empty coffee shop. CRAZY.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

When I was in college, a classmate of mine went to the hospital with a ruptured appendix. While waiting to be treated, she overheard a nurse saying, "She says she's in a lot of pain, but maybe she just has a low tolerance for pain."

About 8 or 9 years ago, my sister and her GF were in a car accident - their car left the highway and rolled over a few times. Shirley (my sister's GF) complained that her back hurt - the nurse at the local hospital told her essentially that she was just whining and she should just deal with the pain. Then, at Shirley's insistence, she was transferred to a hospital in Madison. There they discovered that she had a fractured vertebrae that the New London hospital had missed. In conclusion, never go to the hospital in New London, WI.

So, are people more likely to discount someone's pain if the person is a woman?
