"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Work is crazy busy. We have a new Katrina initiative, so that's sure to keep me stressed and busy. Right now I'm just looking forward to getting home and getting a hug from Mr. Jane.

Daisy Jane, virtual hugs for you from across the ocean.

There's a blessing in Hebrew, at the beginning of the Jewish year, "may the year end, with its cursings, and may a year begin with its blessings". I hope this is what is going to happen to you, your friend, her son, and all your family. Even sonner than the beginning of 2007.

What a horrible thing to happen. I hope they find the jackass soon.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Merry Christmas, all. Apple pie bubbling away in the oven, Kona coffee in my immediate future. I'm tired as all get out (went over to the 'rents last night, ended up staying until 2AM, then couldn't sleep until 4AM because of coughing fits) Am tired. Will go back over to the 'rents when the pie is done, my niece will have been playing with her toys for several hours now. I'm kind of sorry that I wasn't there to see it, but I wasn't going over there at 7.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Hey, DJ! Things are going OK for me personally at least at work and mostly in personal life -- my shoulder/rotator cuff/whatever is acting up, so I'll be seeing an orthopedist soon for some medical intervention, so I've been off yoga for a couple months now and really noticing how creaky I'm getting.

I'm staying with my Mom at the retirement community this weekend, and it's actually a really nice place that does a lot to keep it a real community with all sorts of clubs and activities and communal spaces. Also, just small but telling touches here and there, like the handy magnifying glass that's hanging by a chain near each bulletin board, so that residents with vision problems can read the smaller print on the notices, or the 'license plates' on the personal wheelchairs and scooters so there's no mixups.

DJ, good gods! I'm so sorry. I wish them swift finding~ma. The father...well, given the list of indiscretions you posted and the fact it is Christmas, I will refrain from commenting on him.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Got absolutely lovely presents. A coupon good for 10 pilates classes from the DH, which I have wanted but was a big surprise, since we agreed my new skates were supposed be my whole present. Yes, I am married to Spoily McGenerouspants. Of course we also agreed his guitar was his whole present and I surprised him with a new drill. Our wonderful friend Ed, who stays with us every Christmas, loved his gifts as well. Now we rest a bit before we go off to Movie Day.

Merry Christmas Everybody!

Very busy here. There was much excitement with present opening and now I'm working on making lunch for the In-laws, cleaning up the kitchen from that, getting ready to clear off the table covered with school and gardening stuff, cleaning up debris from gift opening, and helping the kids with the loot. I just finished installing a new computer game. Watching the kids open gifts is a lot of fun. Gotta go and finish cooking.
