Damn, my poor pronoun command! The who with the what with the how?

Let's see, the actor who used to play Art Donovan on Lou Grant? He was the husband. We'll call him Art. David Morse played a doctor on St. Elsewhere. His nickname was Boomer. Then there was the bad guy who killed Art's wife. They made him extra bad and taunty and the episode was mostly about Boomer having to treat the evil rapist scum because that's what doctors have to do. Treat people - even bad people.

Anyway, Art came in and shot the bad guy. He went to jail for it. The following season Boomer was volunteering at the prison when a riot broke out. He was trapped in the medical clinic with Art and Art's Prison Daddy. Prison Daddy proceeded to rape Boomer while Art refused to stop him.

Wheel of Morality turn and turn. Tell us the lesson that we must learn. That while the appeal of vengeful violence is obvious, it tends to perpetuate and cause other damages down the road.

Which I do think is true. (cf., the Middle East, tribal retribution etc.)

I really need to get St. Elsewhere on DVD.

Maybe I'm obtuse, but that seems a morally ambiguous lesson, to me. The only guy that did the right thing was the one that got fucked. Was he just collateral damage of the lesson Art was supposed to learn from his righteous vengence?

God, I forgot about that storyline. David Morse rook so much shit on St. Elsewhere, I wonder if that's why he's so often played bad guys since.

Hec, I hope the police figure out who is harrassing EM this way. If I were her, I'd be terrified. Are they sure it's not the ex?

I just saw the ending scene of St. Elsewhere on I Love the 80's. DH asked if it was out on DVD. Is it? I think I should go back and watch more of it.

I never watched St. Elsewhere, but I like Morse on House. Too bad his character is so ridiculous, I was thinking this morning that the show would have been better off had it made the third season villian a Kraken. I would much better suspend my disbelief if a fictional underwater dragon was patrolling the fountain out front, occasionally stealing people's wallets and civil rights. Those are some magical powers I can believe.

Gah, Hec. I don't know what to say about EM. Definitely {{{}}} and ~ma that this insanity stops. And ~ma for everyone's safety and this jackoff that is effing with her gets caught and goes away for along long time.

Well, both Art and Boomer got fucked. Literally. Which I think was part of the St. Elsewhere vision. Being good didn't guarantee the universe was going to be kind.
