Well, despite the snow and the asshat, I wasn't late to work this morning and I'd happily been chatting with a friend I ran into on the bus. I brought my lunch so I don't have to venture out into the storm if I don't want to. My iPod is fully charged and I'm listening to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
Hmm.
I should watch that vid again in a couple minutes.
t Goes to (un)happy Winchester place.
t Wallows there, porcine.
Oy. So much for avoiding the snowstorm--we got socked with it really bad out here in the NW 'burbs. I had to clean about a foot of snow off of my car while standing in drifts up to my knees (no boots yet, so my gym shoes are soaked), and then it took about 50 minutes to drive the five miles to work, where there are four people out of almost 20 working in my department this morning (both my boss and co-worker are telecommuting).
I just sent a request to my boss asking if I can take a 1/2 day today, because the roads were so icy coming in that I don't see them improving much before 3:00 this afternoon, even if the storm stops by noon like they're predicting.
Today sucks. And people suck. And winter. Winter sucks.

Damn it. I should have loaded that vid onto my iPod. What was I thinking?!
It looks like it's stopped snowing, at least downtown.
I think I'll go heat up my lunch and then read Fandom Wank.
I'm still waiting for the gale force (huh, I wonder if that's a defined value) winds from hell to descend.
Right now it is the same drippy warm gray it's been all morning.
It's 63 freaking degrees here in MA. We were supposed to have plunged into the 30s today, but it sounds like the cold decided to linger in the Midwest and try the patience of many Chicagoans.
Just wait, we'll be miserable next. But in the meantime, I'm going to find an excuse to take a long walk on my lunch hour....
Petite, portable, potent potables!

We got a building-wide announcement to shut the windows because of the wind. Granted, it's almost always windy by my building (on the water, tall buildings, etc.), but still!
A rather delightful review of the Zune, Microsoft's answer to the iPod.
I'm not interested in the Zune, but I've been curious as to what Microsoft came up with and boy it seems like they blew it. IMO the worst feature of the iPod is the vendor lock-in that comes with it, so Microsoft sets up the exact same thing only with a much worse user experience. The wireless thing sounds like it would be cool if it wasn't essentially useless as implemented.
Heh. This morning I was worried that the wind would iceblast the makeup off my face and I'd have to go to work looking like a pathetic, grumpy clown.
