But on that topic, it's important to go shoe shopping (for runners/walking shoes) at the end of the day if you can manage it, because your feet will tend to expand a bit over the day as you walk/stand, and it can throw off the fit.
And I can't say enough the difference a professional (as in, walking/running store, not the mall variety) fitting makes. It's like bras, in a way.
Speaking of shoes, I need to dig mine up and start using them again.

New Balance shoes do rock for wide feet, indeed. Ben has my feet (nearly square they're so wide) and a kids' shoe store owner pointed us to New Balance for him a while back. I have a pair I love.

And sizing is akin to that of bridesmaid dresses. Ignore the size on the label, and buy what fits, because nobody but you is going to know the label, anyhow.

Huh! I would never have guessed that. And I'd not have thought about the shopping at the end of the day tip either. Makes perfect sense.
There is a Fleet Feet store in Adams Morgan that gets high marks for individualized assessment...though it's a bit of a drag to get to. I'll have to make the trek though. This feels too important a choice to leave to DSW.

Fleet Feet is where I go here. There's also a place at the end of M street by the Key Bridge that's very good.
For running, I swear by the double layer socks you can get at those stores. Especially if you're prone to blisters, they rock.

Not!Cotton! umm...I love my UnderArmour socks. And there's some others that I can totally not remember the name of.

Speaking of which -- any nursing bra recommendations? I'm pretty irritated and dissatisfied with most of mine (presently a 36F).
