We went to the zoo last night for their lights show. It was me, DH, Owen and Maggie Simpson Olivia.
They seem to be leaving the Christmas tree unmolested, too. Which is a good thing. I was pretty worried about keeping them out of it.

I wanna play Halo! Except, post-child, I've had almost no time on the box, and determined in a fragfest last weekend that I truly and throughly suck now. And I don't have an Xbox. Or live in the same timezone. Can you guys frag-and-post?
And all Mallory wants to play are race games, Need for Speed and such. Blah.
My Christmas Miracle is that I can fit into my nice clothes again. Yesterday's cow-orker comments were "Is it 'Dress like the 19th Century Day?' and 'You should live in Seattle'"
The DH is implementing Robin's suggestion of making a couple behavioral modifications - listening to people, offering noncommittal or positive small statements, like "Thank you, I'll look into it." We'll see. He *likes* being negative and critical and snarky, though. It's his happy place, they know him there.

I put some up of the house and the punkins. Being I wasn't quite as bright as Cashmere, the bottom of our tree was, originally, decorated. Not so much anymore. The picture of the tree shows only the top 2/3rds. The bottom has about 3 unbreakable ornaments on it and a few lights--the rest have been moved. At least none have broken. [link]
Aidan woke up at 6:30 this morning and jumped on my head until I got up. He thought it was the best game ever. Then the coffee maker died. I'm drinking instant with water heated on the stove. It actually took me a few minutes to figure out how to do that.
Kara isn't up yet. She kept getting up last night until after midnight, saying she couldn't sleep and she needed a special event, like getting to stay up for another hour or two and watch Christmas specials.
I think it's nap time.

This is the Catch-22 of coffee making problems -- you don't have any coffee in you while you're trying to puzzle out a solution.
Last winter, they were forecasting an enormous storm, with high winds. I bought some of those coffee bags (like tea bags, but with coffee), because I figured I could heat water in the fireplace, if nothing else. I've had a cup here and there. It's not as good as the real deal, but it does in a pinch.

We left a few glittered pinecones on the lower branches for the kids in case they get curious. And a few candy canes--which Owen has learned to unwrap and start to eat. We just have a few left as well as about six half-eaten ones. I should have sent him to help wv break up her canes for the peppermint bark. And he *just* now climbed the counter and found the Hanukkah chocolate coins my neighbor gave them. He's trying to unwrap them sitting on the sofa in his Santa hat.
We're a very festive household.

I think the coffee bags might not even be "instant" coffee. Folgers puts them out. You boil the water; pour it over the bag; let it steep for a minute, then dunk the bag (up and down, so dunk and undunk?) for 15 seconds, and you've got something fairly coffeeish. It has caffeine. I'm quite sure of it.

Scott ran some errands late yesterday afternoon. Chris went with him, and wore the Santa hat, everywhere they went.
