Lorne: Back in Pylea they used to call me "sweet potato." Connor: Really. Lorne: Yeah, well, the exact translation was "fragrant tuber" but…

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Somewhat related, I was having a discussion about critical thinking with my dad on my birthday.

There was no critical thinking in my family. I had to pick it up on the streets.

Mostly lurking...

vw! I got your lovely card. Thank you.

Yay! You're welcome. I got 20 out then craziness. I have about 60 more to do. Whoops! They might get out before Christmas, but they're probably not gonna get to their people by then.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

You can have liquids if they are in 3 oz bottles (or less)-- as in the bottle holds 3 ozs or less, in a 1 quart clear plastic ziploc bag and 1 bag per person.

Bah, I say! I have Lush 100ml bottles I thought would pass muster... they're like 3.3 oz. I fucking hate flying. Also, I fucking hate people who cough on me and get me sick. Also, I hate offices that WON'T RETURN CALLS OR EMAILS FOR OVER A WEEK!

Snarl.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

That book looks really interesting Andi.

Having AD/HD Inattentive type, I read it, hoping for some clues about a very specific issue. I have to say that while I was reading it, I kept thinking "Oh, I wish ___, ___, and ___ would read this because they need it too."

The specific issue I was after for me wasn't really covered, but it may well not be in the scope of the book. I have to say, that if one is looking for clues in advance that a particular man hates being told what to do by women, and thinks that his manliness exempts him from needing to actually learn how to do a new job if the only person available to train him is a woman, and therefore will make complaints about how pushy one is being when one says things like, "It's _ o'clock, now is a really good time to _____, and this is the correct way to do it," - that book simply won't help. But then, the book is designed to help people eliminate their own inadvertent asshattery, not so much to help them avoid the asshattery of others. There are other books for that.

I think I was hoping to find that there were social cues that would tell me, "This guy is a jerk under his half-decent facade, so do not treat him like a normal human being."

ETA: a little clarification.

Hm, why does the TSA site say 3oz and the American Airlines site say 100 ml? [link]

vw! I got your lovely card. Thank you.

Ditto! That's a really great picture of you and Toto, especially with the pretty border around it.

{{Cash}} I hope you get some down time today! Last night just was not fair of the universe at all.

Laura, I don't think I got to say that it's great they caught the pursenapper! Every now and then it gives me hope that most police departments are more effecient than the Sunnyvale police.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

What is even happening?

That's what I was going to say, Tom. Okay, that's what I was going to imply, without any actual facts.

All right, I was only going to mutter about 5ml being a teaspoon, and so you're looking at 20 tsp, which is nearly 7 tablespoons, so maybe that's close-ish to 3 ounces.

Because books.

Laura! I forgot to say yay yesterday on the purse-napper being caught! Asshat.

Raq, what everyone else said about DH. It's a big step that at least he recognizes there is a gap between his perception and the world's.

Cash, WHAT are the dogs doing asking for water and to go out in the middle of the night?! My gods, I would banish them to Siberia. Many gentle hugs to you, though, for the sleeplessness, the pain, the vomit, the broken snowglobe, and the rotten way to start the morning. Santa needs to bring you a pain-free year with lots of sleep (for everybody, kids included).

It's sleeting here, which is nasty. And while I don't have peppermint bark to make, I do have two last batches of cookies to conquer in between writing more pages than humanly possible on the book that's late.

Now tagless for your comfort.

It's mostly Mac. More of her incontinence issues. I don't know if her medication makes her more thirsty. Usually, when she has to pee when we're asleep, she'll pee in the floor of the laundry room (conveniently next to the drain). But she was fairly insistant last night that it be OUTSIDE. It may have been the fact that I threw away some cat food cans in the trash can in the back yard.
