Dawn: I think a date should be in a real fancy restaurant, then champagne at a night club with a floor show, then ballroom dancing. Joyce: Unfortunately, we're not dating in a movie from the thirties.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Always Anti-fascist!

poverty and urban blight makes people think of me... well, I guess that's like "End of the world. Where else am I gonna be?" I'm not sure I'm ever gonna stop wanting to kill Namond's mother.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Discovered something very scary. Out of curiosity, decided to see if I could find my own wish list on Amazon (can't find my dad's v. irritating). There are 258 FirstName LastName's on there, and I've checked a bunch of them that are FirstName MiddleInitial Last Name, and they are kind of scary. One of them is into scrapbooking and bird watching, one of me is 13, one likes bags, shoes, and Vogue, one likes Charlie Brown, hey, one's a masseuse! And two of them have very similar taste in books to me. I feel like I should send them an email :)

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

ND and Laura, thanks for the tablet info. The temptation is growing, but I think I'll probably wait until late winter or spring, so I can wait until I go to CA, because shipping to AK is a bitch, and not in a good way.

I looked when I was in Anchorage to see if I could check one out in person. Best Buy had one model out, but it was not for sale. When I expressed surprise that they would leave a floor model out when they don't sell it, and apparently haven't sold it for months, he looked at me like I was crazy and said, "But it doesn't have a price tag on it." @@

"But it doesn't have a price tag on it."

So then it should have been free, right?

Vortex, you shouldn't be surprised that so many people are pretending to be you -- pity them that they are not so smart, so beautiful, so sexy as you.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I saw 1G ones at Target for $25 or so. If they won't ship APO, I can get them to you.

eta: wait, I lied. that was apparently a sale price in store.

True - but the 256 meg ones are $15 bucks every day of the week.

Evil Librarian Thought of the Day: Now that the students are all gathered here in the library studying for finals, I want to get my cell phone out and start having a conversation a few feet away from them, just like they've done to me all semester long while I've been trying to work. Then I can shoot them the same eye-rolly look they give me when I tell them to take it outside of the library, and tell them in an annoyed voice, "it was an emergency!" Which is an excuse I've heard way too often for it to be true.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Admit it, Sparky. It's the modern version of ssssssshhhh.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Hey All. Had to spend the first half of the day in a Training Meeting (woohoo), so only just getting caught up in here.

mini-meara:

IOOON, Epic stopped by! I'd just been thinking about you and remembering how much I enjoyed meeting you at the SF2F and wondering where you were and if you'd ever post again. Good to see your font!

You like me, you really like me! Thanks! It's so good to be back! (And I'm not too embarassed to admit the affirmation is nice, too. Sometimes it's nice to have the affirmation that the kids you think are cool [i.e. you guys] think you're cool too!)

I hate fluffing essays.

I can't believe NObody made a comment about Suzi being a fluffer! It's like I don't even know you any more!

She LOVES sitting on Santa's lap, and would gladly sit there for hours and just talk, "So, how's Mrs. Claus? Is Rudolph well? Do you have your sleigh parked nearby?" We have to remind her that there are an awful lot of kids waiting behind her. It's very cute because she always wants to make sure he's happy and she's shy about telling him what she wants.

I adore Kara more and more every day!

Now, from memory...

Awesome hair, Steph. Adorable Mal, Raq (with a side of eyeroll for DH, and a big ditto to what everybody said about your loveliness). lisah, DED from the cute x2!! Cool news, vw... and that's all I can remember.

ION: Am in the coughing & congesty day of a head cold. Part of the reason I think I got a cold is my nutritional values have been nonexistent lately, due to having stomach flu twice in one month. Man, I miss health. Not sure I really remember it, but I'm sure I miss it.

But Mwah! to all of you (since the interwebs filter all my icky viruses for you).

Admit it, Sparky. It's the modern version of ssssssshhhh.

Policing these things is what I hate most about my job, and our Director has not made it any easier by having different rules for different reading rooms. When she took down our "no cell phone" signs in the library because they were too unfriendly, but posted one outsid her office that said, "ATTENTION: NO CELL PHONE CONVERSATIONS IN THIS HALLWAY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST" I pretty much gave up on enforcement.

Feel better, Epic!

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I find that never ever being able to get a cell signal in the library is a very effective deterrent, and far less confusing than different rules for different rooms. Should you want to drop any hints before you get the frak out of Dodge.
