Speaking of Arizona, I saw this on a website -
Voters weren't keen about another, more quirky Arizona measure: They defeated a proposal that would have awarded $1 million to a randomly selected voter in each general election.
Heh. Um, okay. Odd proposal.
I *believe* Colorado results are still pending on the gay marriage ban. I should go check my news sites again though.
ETA: Fuck! Cancel that. Colorado banned gay marriage and totally shot down Ref. I. So pissed.
We had a "professional clown" running for mayor. I haven't seen our local results yet. Off to hunt them down...
I'm pleased with most of the results here.
Just balanced my checkbook. I'm off $4.93. Now, I expected it to be off, 'cause I was off $4.95 the last time. But, now there's that extra $0.02. It's gonna drive me nuts!
We're obviously from different parts of Wisconsin
NSM that. I mean, we swing Dem because most of our population is in larger cities, like Milwaukee and Madison, but the outlying rural areas tend heavily toward the red. However, there are a lot of Dems like my daughter who still don't believe in gay marriage. Not necessarily for religious reasons, but she saw it as leading to an abuse of the system, similar to folks marrying a non-US citizen in order to get a green card. Non-gay same sex couples would get married in order to take advantage of partner benefits they wouldn't normally be entitiled to. Plus, they saw the referendum to establish a universal health care system in the state as a way of providing most of those benefits sans marriage, so why should they approve gay marriage? Not a sound reasoning by any means, but an out to a lot of fence sitters, I believe.
editted for clarity.

Tell your daughter about the time Hubs' family suggested that I marry Hubs' (widowed) mother so she could use my insurance to pay for her prescription medication. If anything, legal recognition of Hubs's and my commitment would have prevented that discussion.
I grew up in Rock County (Beloit and Janesville) during the '60s and '70s. Where people still remembered "Tail Gunner Joe" McCarthy fondly. So I've long had a lot of problems believing that Wisconsin is liberal.

Hoo-boy. No wonder. That man gave this state the worst reputation and unfortunately, we still sometimes deserve it.
So I got the word from the mechanic.... they need to replace an exhaust pipe, reseat the oil pan, and, apparently redo the entire timing kit. $1600 and three to five days.
I'm going to go have a drink.
I ate all the Frusen Glädjé
Is that stuff still around? I loved it.

But why wouldn't non-gay people just marry another non-gay person of the opposite sex? Cause that's legal
now.
Despite all the elections, etc I woke up with one prevailing thought.
"Why is Patrick Dempsey so effing hot?"
I have not yet some up with an answer.
