Ok, I was in this high powered audit meeting this afternoon. Mucky mucks from around the firm, each one with their laptop checking data as we go from query to query.

One of them interrupts the current discussion to share an important piece of news. He had just gotten a CNN update regarding Brittany Spears filing for divorce . Of all the possible news on an election day, he felt the need to share that. Geee - thanks.

In non-celebrity, non-election news, how did I not know that MarketSpice had put out candles that smell like their tea??? My parents drank that tea all the time throughout my childhood, and my mother's house still smells like it. I don't drink tea, but I love that smell. (Maybe that's why I tend to liking the citrus-spice scents.)

I bought green tea body spritz (or some such, my allergies or migraines seem to act up to any actual perfume these days) from the Bath & Body Shop. I love it.

I voted! My polling place is just a few blocks from here in a community center so there were lots of people chatting and catching up. Some people walked over, I saw a Mom taking a picture of her baby twins, they were in their stroller but she had them right next to the VOTE HERE signs, So cute!

There was no line and I got to chat with the woman, whose name I forget but she remembers me and knows my Grandma.

Interestingly on the ballot for the amenemdent stuff it was YES or NO but on the local referendum it was YES, I am voting for this or NO, I am voting against this. I don't know why they decided to for the extra explanation for the local stuff.

Although there was a tv truck from some Miami regional news station, I don't know why South Florida is covering this polling place.

I didn't get much work done in the last hour because Big Boss wanted to send something to coworker w/new baby, but she wanted to send something with a stork. Which we couldn't find and after calling several places and asking around we went with my first choice.

I really hope Dad is serving wine tonight at dinner.

As we stood in line, the election judge called for our attention, holding up a piece of paper and shouting, "Listen! This is a LIE!" All day she'd been noticing people going to the voting booths carrying these sheets of paper with candidates' smiling faces, but in the afternoon someone called her attention to what the literature actually had on it. Now, these sheets were made up to look like official Democratic party literature, telling folks in this largely Democratic district who the Democratic party wants them to vote for. And this handy little list of Democratic politicians included such people as... our Republican governor, Bob Ehrlich. Nice!

It's reassuring to know that in a world of hackable, digital voting machines, a bit of low-tech deception still has its place.

The odious Michael Steele is also listed as a Dem in those materials. (They went so far as to bus in homeless people from Philadelphia to distribute the flyers. There's no homeless people in Baltimore? Or maybe they figured those folks would know what the deal was.)

So in other non-election news... yesterday I drove over a curb that was higher than I thought, and scraped the bottom of my car in the front. Today when I was driving to and from the gym I smelled a burning smell, and now I think I damaged something.

My friend is coming over for House-ian goodness, so she's going to follow me to the repair place a few blocks away. I may have an unintentional half-day tomorrow...

I did do the damage while stealing signs for a Republican candidate (named Kevin Bacon, no less!), so I guess it's kinda related.
