Our wings are not tired.

Fun cut beth!

So, surprise surprise, I have about 12 days of work to do today to prepare to go to the keys tomorrow. Not the least of which is taking the dog to the vet since she has bald icky spots. grumble and gronk

black coffee:

The poker discussion in Natter reminded me of a poem/lyric my mother asked me to research. One of her Irish uncles used to quote this and she has never found the original. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

life is a game of poker
happiness is the pot
life deals you five cards in the craddle
and you play whether you like it or not

She said it went on at length, but since it was about 75 years ago she can't remember the whole thing. Xposty from Natter since I have hit a dead end looking for this. (maybe he made it up)

What is even happening?

Laura, that sounds a teensy bit familiar, but I don't know anything of worth about it. Sorry.

May your 12 days off have a minimum of dog-with-bald-spot level projects, and a lot more fun. And PIE.

Hee, I wish it was 12 days off. It's 12 days of work I need to cram into today so I can take 5 days.

Now tagless for your comfort.

In fact, The Boy is sitting on my living room floor right now, cutting out coupons (he has a minor obsession with coupons -- it's endearing and frightening). So I think that means All Is Well.

Coupons KICK ASS! I saved $34 off my grocery bill this week. Granted, I subscribe to thegrocerygame.com because I am lazy and like to have a printable sale spreadsheet that I can pick and choose from. But still--LOVE the couponing. I suspect this whole process appeals to the OCD aspects of my personality.

The Boy is cool. And I'm glad all is well.

beth, the hair is CUTE! I wish I had that much body in my hair.

Not the least of which is taking the dog to the vet since she has bald icky spots. grumble and gronk

oof. I hope that's nothing.

DH has called off work the rest of the week. He spent a miserable evening last night and doesn't go to the doctor until 3 p.m. today. I hope whatever they give him knocks this sinus thing out of the park because I hate seeing him so miserable.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Timelies! I've been very lurky - what with still recovering and WORK, but I've been trying to keep up with everyone. A bit of a meara:

Sparky! look forward to seeing you! and Takoma Park is cool - it's a nuclear-free zone!

Beth, love the hair - wish I could get mine to do that slightly messy look.

JZ, sorry to hear about Matilda's shots, but that's one hurdle you're over. Glad you can martini yourself now.

Fay, I love hearing about your kids - they sound adorable, and smart, and almost like Buffista sprog.

Teppy, glad to hear that things seem to be all right with The Boy. And try to remember - people on the board have called you hot, they've called you cool, but never never teppyd.

And, in other news, I've lost about 20 pounds since any of you saw me last (restricted diet ... sigh). Which means my wearable wardrobe is diminishing. Really - when you put on a pair of pants and the first thought when you see yourself is "it's Hammer time!" it's time to retire them.

Art Crawl!!!

Teppy -- I'm so glad that the weekend went well.

Beth - Excellent haircut.

Toddson - whoo hoo!

And um, when I went to my doctor last week he called my knee thing a "bursa" would I have heard "bursitis" incorrectly? Any wisdom on that? For example -- will it ever heal? Or am I doomed? (And the pressure that pain in my left leg puts on my right foot - - I can't express how difficult it is to want to limp on both legs at once.)

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Sumi, the joints are cushioned by something known as a bursa sack. When it becomes inflamed, it causes bursitis. I've got a bad thumb from a softball injury. Similar to arthritis, it's something that happens long after the original injury and/or overuse occurs.

beth, love the haircut! Sassy is quite right. We need more sass in the world.

Glad to see JZ and Todd! But, now I know where the 20 lbs. I gained came from. I still say, no fat is ever lost in the world, it just has to find another place to settle.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Really - when you put on a pair of pants and the first thought when you see yourself is "it's Hammer time!" it's time to retire them.
When your first thought on *anything* is "it's Hammer time!" it's time to fleeeeeeeeeeeee!

Unless you are making a "Grammar Time" icon. That is some funny shit.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Cass, I love your tag. That song reminds me SO much of my sophomore year of college, partly b/c it was on the radio all the time, and partly b/c sophomore year was the pit of hell year.

(If it applies to you right now, though, I'm sorry for that.)
