It's because you didn't have a strong father figure isn't it?

Spike's Bitches 33: Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Because books.

For those of you that smoke, do you have a particular brand you smoke? Do you have a lot of brand loyalty?

Oh my gods, yes. They have different tastes, different strengths. I don't know any serious smokers who would pick up a pak of any old thing at the store.

That said, you sometimes change brands after a while. In my lifetime, I've smoked Marlboro Lights, Benson & Hedges, Merits, and Marlboro Medium 100s (my current nicotine delivery system). Also 100s for me, too. No idea why.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Lee, when I did smoke, years ago, I was generally brand loyal.

I migrated from Bensen and Hedges Ultra Light 100 Menthols (in the box, please) to Marlboro Mediums, to Marlboro 25s, to those weird Camels in the silver pack, to Chesterfield straights with the occasional pack of Old Golds when I couldn't find my Chesterfields.

And then I up and quit. Which is good, because Chesterfields are a bitch to find.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

See, that's what I thought, but a co-worker was trying to tell me otherwise.

Cigarettes must always be in a box. Oh yes.

AmyLiz, my Chesterfields weren't, but I had vintage metal Chesterfield case that I kept them in, so it all worked out.

::swoons::

I went through a phase of buying vintage cigarette cases when I was at NYU (and had lots of easy access to tempting vintage and antique stores in theVillage), but none of them were ever big enough for 100s, and a lot of them were too rich for my blood. So lovely, though.

And now I have an odd urge to find out what all the smokers smoke.

Nicole, Brenda, Aimee, everyone else I am forgetting...?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

For current and former smokers - why did you start? Peer pressure? Because it was cool? Something to do?

Actually, I think smoking is cool and I love all the accoutrements (lighters, cases, etc.) so I'd totally do it if it wasn't bad for me. And I've been known to smoke a cig or two when I'm wasted.

OH! And at the LA F2F, I smoked Kools, because after several beers Thursday night, I really needed them, and MM was kind enough to go on a Kools run for me.

I should note that I've never even LIKED Kools. I just had a craving.
