Hooo-kay. The hell?
This is why we can't have nice things democracy....
I voted! mr. flea voted! Peter did not vote, but did charm the poll workers. I was the 257th voter at my polling place; the person in charge, who happens to be my landlady and next door neighbor, says it has been steady all day, despite fairly hard rain.
They're saying that they expect a bigger turnout this year in Connecticut than in 2004.

I had a very social morning. I ran into my friend at the polling place and we stood outside and chatted for a long time. Then when I finally went in there was no line. We had the paper ballots that you scanned. All worked well, although the little cardboard booths (I typed cardbooths) were flimsy and although they had sides, they had no curtain. I like curtains.
Anyway, it was fine and easy and there was lots of food and lots of people partying and the local chapter candidates were there. It looked like there was a big turnout for the Navajo nation election; so exciting.
I voted six Dems, three Republicans, an independent and a Green. The Green party guy might actually win, and it's a role that I actually deal with for my corporation, so I'm thrilled about that. But our district is notoriously lax, and so there were maybe six uncontested positions, and one where there wasn't even a balloted candidate, just a place for the write-in. I was afraid to write someone in, in case they won, based solely on my vote.
No referendum issues, but there were bond issues and constitutional amendments. The most interesting amendment was one repealing the prohibition of alien residents from owning property. It's an anti-Asian law left over from back in the day. It has since had legislation that invalidates it in functionality, so this was largely symbolic, but still I was glad to be able to help strike that one down.

Ooh! Scan it!
Voting accomplished.
The optical scan things take longer than the punch cards but it's like coloring!
A's are moving to Fremont. (beth and Matt's nabe)
That sucks.
agreed. I guess Cisco is building a stadium. no direct Bart connection. and I think it is a bad move for the city of fremont - it is usually a loseing proposition.
at my polling place the scanner jammed.
so into the locked bin for a later scan...
Mine too. You don't secretly live in my neighborhood do you?
I won't tell :)
to maintain my "doer" reputation.
1) I am at work today
2) Paperwork to get mac on my insurance is filled out.
3) Dr. appt for mac has been made.
4) 2 of the 3 pieces of info I needed from Board of Ed have been obtained.
Bad news of the day is that it seems that mac's school does not have any afterschool program.
