I have a Problem.

I brought some chili for lunch (yum) in a plastic container with a screw on lid. I unscrewed the lid, but left it on top of the container while microwaving in order to avoid splats.

At some point in the heating, the lid screwed itself back on. Due to the steamy heat, I can't get the lid open for love nor money.

What can I do? Wait for it to cool down? Will that work?

I'm mostly worried about the machines not working right. And that we'll never really know if they didn't work right.

OK, is anyone else really stressed-out about this election?

I'm really unhappy that I'll be voting on a Diebold machine. I have no faith whatsoever in black box voting. I still have doubts about the 2004 results.

Me. The haunting question being: "How will the Dems figure out how to fuck it up this time?"

I'm actually more worried about issues with the voting (not least of which is voting machines designed by companies owned by big-time GOP contributors that have no accountability trail).

That, and waiting for inevitable spin. I guarantee if the GOP keeps either house of Congress, Bush will be talking "mandate". Again.

God help us if it's both.

Locally, I think we're finally getting a democrat governer again here in the land of the supposed bluest blue, so not as much of an angst thing on that.

I wandered over here wondering what could generate 360 posts in less than a day. '80s songs. Silly me. I should have guessed.

I'm right there with lisah and megan. I have no inherent problem with the concept of computerized election machines, there just have to be provisions for an independent recount. And there aren't. And it really wouldn't have been that hard to do.

And I get REALLY FUCKING ANNOYED at my precinct for setting up the machines so everyone and their brother can see your screen. That's flat out wrong, I complained about it to them at the primary so hopefully that will change. It's funny that the whole sanctity of the anonymous vote thing is so deep that it really kind of freaked me out.

Last week I deposited my paycheck into a Diebold ATM. I received a paper receipt. Plus there was an internal paper log of the transaction.

So I guess we get a paper trail for the important things....

This. I was listening to Hannity's radio show and he was talking all about the liberal media and how the liberals control ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC and how much they hate conservatives blah blah blah. But, the only news person he could name as liberal was Olbermann. Does he actually WATCH the news? Liberal bent, my fanny.
