I must have been in one of the few places in Europe that actually played a lot of American pop. Very small town and big Navy base. It took over most of the bars and clubs in town when it came to dance music. Not that all of Journey was danceable to, but the ballads made great macking music for the dance floor.

I have a weird fondness for Journey that I can't seem to shake.
And I hate myself for it.
What was the '83-ish Journey song that had this ubiquitious video that showed the band playing outdoors in some warehouse-y area while some hot chick walked by? I can't remember the song, but that video is burned into my brain....
Damn you, Plei. I just got over a horrifying earworm of We Are the World. Now it's baaaack.
Aha - found it: [link] It's for "Separate Ways." It has the goofiest beginning - the band suddenly appears out of nowhere, playing air-instruments. Then suddenly their instruments appear. I probably saw that video a billion times....
eta: Oh gawd - and the over-emoting of the band....
London got a fair amount of American pop--Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner. Just really not hair bands. I was startled to learn of their existence.

You know, listening as I watch it, I kind of hope that someone's made an overly literal Princess Bride vid to the song, because that would be freaking funny.

Is that better or worse than having an amused fondness for early Motley Crue, Queensryche, and Faster Pussycat? I mean, I've accepted that I don't really have any music "cred" to defend, but still.
I won't fight any of you for any of the Duran boys. However, Prince Charming -era Adam Ant is *mine*.

Well, as long as I'm helping.
