This girl at school? She told me that gelatin is made from ground-up cow's feet and that every time you eat Jell-O there's some cow out there limping around without any feet. But I told her that I'm sure the cow is dead before they cut its feet off, right?

Because books.

I can actually see, I guess, where avocado would work, although I'm not a big avocado fan, and I *am* a big sugar fan, so it sounds grim to me. But bacon? *With* avocado? Come on. The fact that so many of them seemed not to understand they would be serving it to kids struck me as fairly stupid, too.

Not a good sign that I want to write if you can't figure this out, you are a moron and shouldn't be trying.

I think I should go work on another project for a little bit. My handholding skills are looking a bit peaked.

Punishingly Intricate

And I'm reading the whitefont just because I find it hard to resist reading whitefont.

hah! Me too even if I know it's about something I don't really care about.

Salman Rushdie! That's so funny! I don't know what answer I was expecting but not that.

AmyLiz, I was confused about the same thing! They did say "entree" right? The corn side dish seemed delicious to me, too, and really easy to pair with something entree-ish.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

I haven't seen last night's ep yet, but I have to agree with your No Hotpants In The Kitchen stance.

Having seen it, I just want to say that Padma can wear hot pants anywhere she likes.

As for the avocado ice cream, as per Alton Brown, you can actually do just about anything with it that you can with eggs, and Carlos pointed out that it allowed him to save some time, so it wasn't completely random. On the other hand, Carlos was able to effectively control the flavor so it still tasted like ice cream (as evidenced by his being a runner-up, whereas Marcel couldn't. Because he sucks.

It's ben pointed out elsewhere that Marcel is this season's Stephen, except Stephen actually won things once in a while.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The Men of Mortuaries 2007 calendar is now available: [link]

Worksafe (assuming that a picture of a bunch of shirtless, muscular men lowering a casket into the ground is worksafe).

Because books.

I'm pretty sure they did, lisah. At least that's the way it seemed reading the blogs this morning.

I think my husband agrees with your "all hotpants all the time" stance, victor. At least on Padma.

Always Anti-fascist!

Reading about it makes me sad there's no 6FU anymore.

A bunch of great pictures of a pirate ship halloween party: [link]

For the last 7 years my friends Don and Tracy have been creating amazing Halloween displays in the front yard of their Richmond, CA home. This year they took things to a whole new level by creating a 26’ pirate ship, complete with a functioning gun powder cannon. Hundreds Trick-or-Treaters lined up throughout the night to board the ship, gather their bounty and then exit by walking the plank (a slide at the front of the ship).

What is even happening?

I just got this on e-mail, and my first thought was sharing it, even if only for the first coffee-themed one.

Nilly, I'm so glad you could be not-here for just the moment you were. That was so funny. Reading shrift's post to her treacherous coffee, right after your post with the link, just added to it.
