Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

is that responding to me?

t checks back

Not entirely, msbelle. It was a reaction to the attitude in the discussion. I try not to be about personal attacks.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sometimes the money feeds much more important things and you don't have the luxury (fuck, I can't spell) of waiting around for someone to appreciate your brilliance. So you learn to bend and stretch and learn new things.

Well, that's true. And, of course, pretty soon msbelle will have a higher priority than Total Job Fullfillment...

I really do not care about being fufilled. I care about realistic expectations and security.

Include my possible misspell in quotes (I really can't tell) why don't you?!

Oh, by the way...

I owe Jesse an apology in public for a lot of weird stuff I said in private emails. I plead morphine, and just generally being an ass-wipe.

Jesse, I am sorry that I am an ass-wipe, in general.

Thanks, Gus. No worries.

I think you got it right, though.

I care about realistic expectations and security.

Well, you know that both of those are a crapshoot in any job, so. Maybe what you need is a government job!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The last place at which I interviewed had a lot of people excited to work for the company. And the place looked great! Airy outside, with fountains and at least one great cafeteria, high cube walls, lots of on-campus amenities. Three weeks vacation your first year plus two weeks of company mandatory shutdown annually.

If it weren't so damned far from me, I'd be more excited about it. But I'm rooting for another sweet job with proud employees that's closer.

Both sets of interviews have made me look back at my last employer and roll my eyes. There is no way my department could have mustered that many people that psyched about the company and what the company does. No way in hell. Probably not in most of the company.

Those people stop answering their phones at 4:40, for reals. Edit: to specify, I mean most of the employees I've tried to call in several city and state grantmaking offices.
