'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

They said they'd only use their power for good, but I forgot to consider what cats consider "good." It seems there's a little wiggle-room in there.

What is even happening?

Happy Birthday, Kate and RLiz!

Studio 60...

Oh, come on, Sorkin. Those parents TOTALLY would have known the Who's On First sketch. You mock an audience for not knowing about Commedia dell'arte, and then pretend two people in their f50s wouldn't know Who's On First. You just about lost me, just with that.

One of the first reviews I read about Studio 60 was by someone over on Matt Zoller Seitz's blog. It put forth that the real flaw of this series was how so much of its premise was * false. It mentioned how reality TV isn't nearly what Network!Judd put forth in his angry monologue, and other points. I know I've felt that way about other things, like this mythological readership of Rapture Magazine that's supposedly bigger than VF's, but I figured I was taking some of that on the personal side and so tried not to nit pick about it. But this last thing was ridiculous.

Also, how many monologues did we have to listen to, last night? The kid-writer gave the big speech to his parents. Thirty-Something gave the big speech for the old guy, and it was never quite clear how addled the old guy was. That's at least two. It felt like a lot more at the time, like Giles-on-crack, sans charm.

Ugh.

hip deep in pie

Happy Birthday Kate and long lost Rebecca!!

I dreamed my roommate was yelling, "Aren't you going to FEED these cats ALREADY?" and woke up. The cats weren't even on the bed or in the room, my sleeping brain had just come up with it on its own.

I dreamt I was writing a symphony, and I was arranging to have live rain effects on stage. "Because when I say Canada, I want people to think rain."

When you're racing - it's life. Anything that comes before or after is just waiting.

U of L? I have a friend at Brandeis.

UofL is 2 years of the 5 year plan (unless I end up in Vancouver then UBC for 2of5). I'll leave you guessing for the other three. And, you do realize that Brandeis in Waltham, Mass, right? Or am I completely missing a connection between Louisville and Brandeis?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Hee, I was trying to parse that one myself.

Good to know I wasn't the only one confused.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. But hey, kudos to you on having a plan! I'm still working on that one.

Theo, I very much agree with you on most of your points. I did, however, like the moment when Darius (new writer) comes on stage and DL and Matt just turned around, slowly, discovering something great. Of course, that could be because I'm in love with Darius. But not entirely. I don't know, I'm inclined to stick around because I like the dialogue, and it's interesting, and even though it's so stilted it's still better than a lot of the crap out there. But if my interest wanes, it's gone. I have so many shows to watch this season that I probably wouldn't miss it anyway.

::red with embarassment:: I knew there was a reason I should recognize that. It's just that I almost went to Brandeis (Mass) for undergrad so my brain immediately goes that direction.

As far as the plan goes, got the plan just need to figure out where to go. I think that's the more difficult decision.

I think that was me. And SA, I keep turning in, because of what you mention sans Darius, not because I don't love him, just because he's new so I can't blame him for me coming back for more. I am unreasonably attached to the Matt character, and find him, Danny, Harriet, Simon, Young-Writer and even Jordan and Wings-Guy fairly sympathetic characters. The dialogue is good. It's just the stories are crap, and story is probably my biggest drawing point.

I'll probably keep watching it, because it's the first show in I don't know how long (probably since I got over E.R.) that I watch, that actually airs at 10.
