Dad is visiting, and I drove him up to the KC area to visit more family. My time is not my own through all this, otherwise I would have tried to arrange a mini-f2f with the Buffistas here.
We went to a performance by Baxter Black at the University of Kansas campus in Overland Park last night. It was a good show, great fun, and I laughed til I cried.
Afterwards there were books and CDs for sale in the lobby. He pre-signs the books, but he does personalized inscriptions then and there, holding the book upside-down and writing backwards with a slant-tip pen. The result is pretty neat, a sort of calligraphy. Pictures here: [link]
I just watched a CSI:Miami from earlier this season on CBS.com.

needs to call me. Stat.

Unsurprisingly, I am.

Thanks to 20 years of staying put and rent control I am at almost a third of the market rate for a two-bedroom in my nabe.

We're at about half the median in this area, for the same reason.

Thanks to living bracketed by an expressway and slum tenements, I'm paying about $130/month less than the median for a 2br in this zip code. But really, based on square footage and the apartment's features I'm probably getting it for about half what it would cost in a good neighborhood.
Nifty web toy. I'm paying about $150 under median. Like others, it's probably due to staying put for a while. Six years in my case.
I'm still planning to move at some point, but that's because I want to upgrade from one bedroom to two.
What I need is a mortgageometer!
My leg/hamstring/whatever is significantly better this morning, even if it's still twingey. I'm being WAY careful with walking and stuff.
Looks like my rent is just a few dollars over the low rent range, so I'm doing pretty good, even though I just moved here a few months ago!
I wonder if I didn't reinjure my original injury yesterday?
I found an old wrap that I had and wrapped my knee with it and then hobbled to the corner store. (Can't do without tp.)
My plan for today - involves resting my leg while watching the MI-5 marathon on A&E.
