It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

These buildings are less than half the size the towers were -- this was not a jet.

Yeah, I can't even imagine a plane being that small and low.

What is even happening?

These buildings are less than half the size the towers were -- this was not a jet.

I wasn't saying it was. I was talking about five years ago.

FDNY has apparently confirmed that it was a helicopter.

No. I've been bouncing between NBC and CNN. Some reports are still saying fixed wing aircraft. Some are saying helicopter. Nobody knows. They don't think it's anything but a tragic accident, but a no-fly zone has been established and NORAD has scrambled fighter jets over major cities.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

No. I've been bouncing between NBC and CNN.

Both of which, up until a few minutes ago, were saying that the crash happened "near Rockefeller Center" (which is 30 blocks south and on the other side of town), so I'm relying on local news sources for now.

Because books.

I'm wondering if some of the pictures they're showing are from earlier, because whenever they focus on the flames, the fire seems to be contained to one or two apartments. But they're still saying people are trapped on the floors above.

brillig

And you just know there's somebody in an office somewhere watching this story unfold then yelling "That's my place!" Poor things.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Here's how you know I'm a bitch: my second thought was "I hope this doesn't fuck up my east side commute home."

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It's near Rockfeller University

Here's a blog page with some decent pictures.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

They probably meant Rockefeller University which IS over on the East River.

Because books.

Now FoxNews is saying the top eight floors of the building are clear, and there are no reports of injuries.

Not sure about the floors actually on fire, though.

A friend's parents live across the street. Her father (who was at home), is fine, but her mother may not be able to get home until much later since they've closed off the block.

The area trends towards wealthy older people, so it's likely that there were a fair number of people home in the building that was hit.

Yep -- kind of sad that only the blogosphere has been able to correct that in print so far.
