They keep saying they don't know which, but suspect it might have been a helicopter because of a heliport at 63rd St.
Such an awful deja vu feeling, watching all the smoke.

Especially being the 11th.
They say small private multi-engine plane, halfway down the building...
Visibility was 18,000 feet, pretty good
That didn't even occur to me, if you can believe it.
They're saying helicopter for sure now -- there were pictures of the debris on the street on FoxNews.

I swear, I wish they'd wait to report stuff until it's absolutely certain. I *just* heard someone say helicopter!
Reuters says:
Several helicopters have crashed over the years into or near the rivers flanking Manhattan.
How...comforting. A good friend of mine used to live at 72nd/York. I'm so glad she moved to Queens!
And NBC helpfully adds:
Witnesses said the crash caused a loud noise, and burning and falling debris was seen.
No shit, a loud noise? And falling debris? That's some crack reporting, right there.

Yup.

Heh.
Bloody hell. I hope they are right it is a small aircraft. Last time I heard a small aircraft, those were the first reports from the Pentagon hit, people saying it was a small private plane...
That's what they were saying hit the WTC five years ago, too. I remember Brokaw (I think, one of the major network anchors, anyhow) questioning the accuracy of an eyewitness who said it was a jet.
