"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Aww. Wish I had a big brother like Emmett.

Clothes have been picked out. Silver evening gown, velvet corset top with black and white cotton voile skirt, and my best little black dress. I also picked out my long red velvet hooded coat in the hopes I could pair it with something-everything else is so neutral. I'm also bringing my bust of Will, and his complete works.

Always Anti-fascist!

Am I the only one who loves Mike Logan here? Of course, big old cop groupie so maybe you can't go by me. That's great about Emmett. House was really awesome this week. Hope the girl is back on again.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I love Mike Logan, Bunk.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Congrats to Hec, JZ, and Emmett! It sounds like the familial expansion is working out great.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Minor annoyance this morning when I put on one of my brand new shirts(bought yesterday) and found that the left sleeve seam had split partway up the arm. Did a quick and dirty stitchup, and its wearable again.

Have now added some more shower gel stuff to the ridiculous amount I already have. (Curse you, Bath & Body Works, and your dessert-scented goods)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Aww! Emmett's taking his new role so well.

"Get with it, Dad! I have a sister to spoil rotten!"

What is even happening?

Love Mike Logan.

Love Emmett.

Love Emmett's Matilda-love.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Love Emmett's Matilda-love.

He's holding her now with the boppy around his waist while JZ demolishes a peanut butter English Muffin.

He's officially declared she's "like a baby puppy." And we all know how high that standard is for him.

Oof. I'm getting tired and sore. I need to apply a nice cold tequila compress to the back of my throat.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Emmett's almost as cute as Matilda.

Glurgh. On NUMB3RS they said that Megan was a black belt in krav maga. At first I was cheered by the shoutout, but then it made me think of how few female black belts there are, and how there's one fewer now than there was a couple months ago. And now I'm bummed out.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Any fireman groupies out there? I seem to recall Trudy was.

JZ said the firehouse would help with the carseat. So drove over and asked. The chief (trim guy, early forties, handsome and swarthy) says, "Well, we used to hold seminars with experts. We're not the experts. But we'll definitely help. Why don't you pull on in."

So the chief's helping me fuss with the latch and anchor system as we flip through the manual and he leans over to one of his crew and says, "Hey Sean, you have any experience with these things?"

Sean is your classic Irish American fireman. Athletic 6 footer, short blond hair. Real good looking. Open earnest face. Mid twenties. Father of two.

"Oh yeah, we've got one of those."

Sean digs in and wrestles with it for fifteen minutes until it's real secure. "Yeah, my second hated the neck cradle thing for newborns. Wouldn't sleep in the car until we took it out."

I show him a picture of Matilda on my phone. "Awwwww! What a cutie."

We love the firemen.

I mean, honestly, it wasn't their job at all. But they help. That's what they do.
