Emmett's almost as cute as Matilda.
Glurgh. On NUMB3RS they said that Megan was
a black belt in krav maga. At first I was cheered by the shoutout, but then it made me think of how few female black belts there are, and how there's one fewer now than there was a couple months ago.
And now I'm bummed out.
Any fireman groupies out there? I seem to recall Trudy was.
JZ said the firehouse would help with the carseat. So drove over and asked. The chief (trim guy, early forties, handsome and swarthy) says, "Well, we used to hold seminars with experts. We're not the experts. But we'll definitely help. Why don't you pull on in."
So the chief's helping me fuss with the latch and anchor system as we flip through the manual and he leans over to one of his crew and says, "Hey Sean, you have any experience with these things?"
Sean is your classic Irish American fireman. Athletic 6 footer, short blond hair. Real good looking. Open earnest face. Mid twenties. Father of two.
"Oh yeah, we've got one of those."
Sean digs in and wrestles with it for fifteen minutes until it's real secure. "Yeah, my second hated the neck cradle thing for newborns. Wouldn't sleep in the car until we took it out."
I show him a picture of Matilda on my phone. "Awwwww! What a cutie."
We love the firemen.
I mean, honestly, it wasn't their job at all. But they help. That's what they do.
Aw, ita. that's hard.
I am loving all the Emmett/Tilda news. The DH was 12 when his younger brother was born and he LOVED it. i think it was the best part of his adolescence.
Okay, if I wasn't a fireman groupie before, I am now.
Emmett is adorable.
The firemen in my neighborhood are real nice. In summer they put out fresh watter and doggie treats....
ION, now we know what space smells like. From the space-blog of that millionaire space tourist chick:
The time went by really slowly, but finally the moment arrived and they were ready to open the hatch. Mike and Misha called me closer and told me to take a good whiff because this would be the first time I would smell “SPACE.”
They said it is a very unique smell. As they pulled the hatch open on the Soyuz side, I smelled “SPACE.” It was strange… kind of like burned almond cookie. I said to them, “It smells like cooking” and they both looked at me like I was crazy and exclaimed:”Cooking!”
I said, “Yes… sort of like something is burning… I don’t know it is hard to explain…”

I get to see Matilda tomorrow. YAY
Yay for firemen!
I am home from the not-really-a-shower party in honor of msbelle. The best part? Her parents were surprise guests! That was awesome.
Jesse, that sounds fab! Did she get good Not-Really-A-Shower loot?
She got some swell loot, including two beautiful quilts, one from her mother and one from a different relative, I forget who.
