SA, I did take the teaching gig. I'm finishing up my Masters stuff, 2 papers. I need another source or two, and I'm to minimum page limit. It needs to get sent out today. I think I'll likely be doing a fair bit of staring uncomprehendingly at my students or snarking the Hell out of them today, even if I try not to.

Aw. I'm sure they will cut you some slack. Or if they don't you can teach by example the finer points of exhausted snarking.

But, I've got NCIS and Criminal Minds and two episodes of the daily show waiting for me when I get home, PLUS the premiere of Supernatural waiting to be downloaded, so I won't exactly be wanting for entertainment.

If somewhat wants to send me a friendly threatening email tomorrow telling me to get off my ass and write my application to teach in Japan, though, it wouldn't go unappreciated.

Cindy, I watched the third-season premiere of Veronica Mars the other day, and while I really enjoyed it (as I always do! plus I really love the remixed opener), was it ever explained how she ended up at Hearst, either in the premiere or last season? I can't wait to keep watching.

Hey, SA -- maybe you can help me with a little Irish/American translation. "Vest" and "tank top" are reversed here to there, right? So a vest is underwear and a tank top is a sweater? Because otherwise, I'm terrified of what the guy in my book is actually wearing.

The term is also used in Australian English, although the term singlet is more common in Australia. In British English, the term vest is used, while "tank top" refers to a sleeveless pullover. In India, such a vest, primarily designed to be an undershirt, is called a baniyaan. The name derives from its resemblance to a tank suit, a style of one-piece women's swimsuit with shoulder straps. "Tank suit" in turn refers to "swimming tank," an obsolete term for what are now called "swimming pools."

Vest is used for underwear, tank top for the wooly things. It's a waistcoat if it has buttons though, I'd say. Although, if it's a girl's vest-top thing, it would probably be called a tank-top.

SA, what sumi said. Also * As of 3.01, I think we're just supposed to conclude how she ended up at Hearst, from all the little plot points dropped over the second season. In "One Angry Veronica," one of her fellow jurors was part of the administration at Hearst and made scholarships sound like a good possibility. Wallace and Mac were going to Hearst. She couldn't afford Standford, without the Kane scholarship, which makes me believe Hearst is likely more affordable. She visited Hearst, so I'm assuming she applied there as a safety. Since she was in the running for the Kane scholarship, she must have been one of the top students in her high school, so I'm feeling safe assuming Hearst offered her scholarships and a good aid package, and if Kendall's fee paid for a Saturn, it probably helped out with whatever tuition related expenses weren't covered by scholarships, aid, and student loans.

That's something Veronica Mars does a lot. Sometimes, I appreciate that they don't give us all the answers--it's like we're watching select scenes from her life. BtVS was like that sometimes, too. You knew time had passed and things had happened, between episodes. Sometimes though, it feels a little bit too snippet-y, and like Rob Thomas is leaving out some of the more interesting stories. I don't necessarily feel like that about the Hearst storyline, but there are plenty of skip-overs that have left me feeling that way.
