Jess, what wonderful news! Congratulations to you and E!
Beth, the walls are lovely. Such a huge improvement. I'm sending peace, strength, and all healing possible to Matt and his mom, and to you, too.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Jess, what wonderful news! Congratulations to you and E!

Thanks for all the warm thoughts.
now I have to share the evening trauma. Watched some home design show call reDesign - we knew instantly it was not for us. but there was plenty to make fun of The room - huge 25 foot walls - funky angles - but a nice spot where the ceiling was lower - so it could have felt cozy. The two guys turned it into a dark, batcave of a 'swanky night club' so busy they you whould been jumping around no old movies or footballs games on that tv. matt made post here because I was so traumatized I couldn't stop talking about it

I'm sorry to hear about your mother, Matt.
Congratulations, Jessica.
The other good thing about a Roth IRA is that you can take out the principal without penalty, so you can use it for a house downpayment or a trip around the world.
Just to clarify, you can take money out of a regular IRA/401k for a house downpayment without penalty as well. But you're SOL as far as the trip around the world.
Getting ready to head for the airport and leave Lee and Nicole (and Ashton and Bailey) behind. Don't wanna!
Oh beth, that house made me ill. The before never looked better. Ick.
Question of the weekend - what music do you clean to?
Missed that one. Showtunes or classic rock. I like to sing when I clean. I can clean to oldies too. Just need lyrics I know.
Much ~ma to Matt and his family, beth.
And, YAY for Jessica and E! Such exciting news!
Question of the weekend - what music do you clean to?
Metallica. Few of StE's old cassettes hanging around. Getting a mad on helps me clean, even if I have to manufacture one. These days, all I really need to do is glance at a headline--any headline--and presto! Mad!
or there's a frigging cloud in San Diego.Hey, that's traumatic!
Once, a green snake got in our house. I didn't even know it until I discovered my cat pacing around its carcass, panting and clearly saying, "Would you look at that? WTF is that thing!" She was all upset at having to kill something she didn't even recognize and was not going to eat.My snake squick was immediately overwhelmed by my giggling... "I killed it. Now what the hell do I do with it?"
Congratulations, Jess and Ethan! Wonderful happy news...
Beth, my ~ma and thoughts are with Matt, his mother and you...
I need a nap before Sunday really starts.
I don't have any cleaning music per se. What works to motivate me changes with nmy mood, and I am mercurial. Lately I have been listening to NPR Podcasts - not news, but shows and little bits of shows that I hadn't heard of because my local station only got the news. Or silence, which I occasionally get very into.
Zenkitty, IME the big advantage to Credit Unions is that once you are a member you can get favorable rates for loans (signature loans, car loans, mortgagaes, what have you), so it might be worthwhile to keep a small account there if you are likely to need one o f those. The rates can be better than commercial banks because the Credit Union's purpose is not to make a profit but to provide services to its members, IIRC. kind of a Co-op with money idea.
Echoing all the Jessica and Ethan congratulations! I was just thinking the other day, with Matilda safely here and dazzling her parents with her charm, that we didn't have any new Buffista babies to look forward to. And lo, Jessica steps in!
Yes, sometimes it's all about me.
Question of the weekend - what music do you clean to?
I clean to stuff I can sing to. The soundtracks to Oliver or Les Mis or cheesy seventies stuff like Abba. Cleaning at Christmastime is always (marginally) more enjoyable because I can belt out carols while I'm dusting and mopping.
Sending all kinds of ~ma to Matt and his mom, too.
