More thanks for birthday wishes!
I hope you have cake and something fun planned, at least.
Oh, yes. There will be cake and then lunch with friends and then (hopefully) Amazon boxes at home for me to rip open after work. Very exciting. And a co-worker just walked in with a vase of sunflowers for me. YAY! Love sunflowers.
Also, AmyLiz, I've been meaning to tell you that one of my early b-day gifts was Bad Boys Of Summer (thanks again, Sail!) and I loved your story!
I know I came rushing in here for something else though, and now I can't remember why. Shit.
OH!!! Cassie-pants!! The boss just now approved my vacation request so I'm definitely coming to Portland next month. Wheeeee!
Nicole, look! Google knows what day it is!
Happy B'day, Nicole! Yay Cake!! Yay Vacation!!! BOO working on your birthday!!!
Happy Birthday Nicole!!!!
Aw, congrats again to the Zmayhem clan. Very sweet birthing story.
Congrats to ND!
Happy birthday to Nicole!
And I'm off to get ready for my grad school orientation. Why do I feel 5 years old?
Don't forget your lunchbox, Gloom.
Sunflowers rock.

Aw. ::blushing:: I'm glad you liked it!
It's nice to have nurses on call and having someone bring you hot (if bland) meals
David, bring her food. We sent my in-laws out for Indian the next day. After hospital food, it was heaven.
Mmm. Korma.
Also, suggest to JZ that, if they have an LC on staff, she meet with them--I keep forgetting to suggest this to every new mother, but I found it incredibly helpful, and it probably saved me from some of the nastier problems that can crop up in the early days of nursing, considering I was dealing with
flattish nipples and a tiny baby mouth.
Awwww, Fuck.
Matilda had to be taken to the NICU last night. She had bile in her stomach and had to have it pumped out. Apparently she swallowed some of her own mess in utero while doing her practice breathing before she was born.
Matilda was getting fussy and distressed last night so JZ called the nurse to bring her over to the bed. The nurse patted Matilda on the back and some dark mucus came up. They took her to the nursery and she vomited some more dark stuff. So they took her to the NICU to get her stomach suctioned out. JZ went down there at 2:30am and held Matilda while they did the procedures and stayed with her until 5:30. That's not how you want to spend the night after you've had abdominal surgery!
Poor little Matilda, that's a fine welcome to the world. And poor JZ being up all night and moving around after a C-section.
So I'll make it back over there in time for rounds and hear what the doctors say. Night nurse said there's a good chance she'll be released back to us today since the stomach was suctioned twice and sonogram shows no intestinal blockage. So it looks like everything's out that needs to be out and I hope that is all the problem that's going on.
