So, first day back at school went pretty well. Kids v. cute, Barney the Dog has gone home with the best behaved (although it was a close call) and school dinner was teh yum. Learning happened. One of them is going to be quite a challenge in terms of learning to socialise and improving his English skills (and if he hasn't got over yelling 'Teacher!' at me by the end of the week he may not see his next birthday - I have a name, I have a big honking namebadge, LEARN IT, KID!!!). However, we survived, and so did the wee'uns.
Today I am starting my Healthy Living thing. Honestly. Which means, I think, that I need to go out for dinner. Because there is nothing to eat at home, and nothing but crap to eat from the corner shop...so I think that I need to go to the pub. Yes. Possibly.
Meanwhile - man, the array of DVDs one can buy here. Pirate DVDs, natch, but at 100 Baht a pop (which is, what, $3 or so?)...well, I'm planning on buying
The 4400, The X Files, Desperate Housewives (S2), Lost (S2), Supernatural, Deadwood,
and possibly even
The Sentinel,
just because it's there and there's fic.
Am going to eat, and then mayhap to the gym. Or a swim. Or something. Yes.
Raq, good news is that August is almost over.
Good luck today, Emily!
Fay, new place sounds wonderful and so do the kids.
I was awoken far too early with a binky emergency (Liv lost hers and couldn't find it quick enough). Trying to decide if I want instant coffee or orange juice.
good news is that August is almost over
And not a moment too soon. Cheney's left nut sack is too good for it.
May
was
good, wasn't it? And September will be nice, and October will be splendiferous.
August is almost over.
Someone please tell that to the AC in my building. Come on, be brave! No need to die now! It's not that much longer until fall! only, like, another month and a half!
Yay for Hec! And good neighbors for Emily.
Massive headache this morning. Hoping it goes away soon so I can get back to the Cambridge apartment to do more stuff.
Headache~ma to ya wv.
My manager just told me that the folks I applied to are calling around to my references (of which he is one). Yay! I guess. Well, as long as my manager keeps to such homegrown truths as, "Drinks like a fish and no regard for human life. But her code is flawless."
OMG, Mariska won again?!
God, all the dead actresses littering NY and LA...fuckin' tragic. But they wouldn't care on the news cause none of 'em are named Jon Benet.
I don't deny that she's beautiful...I'd give my left tit to look like that, but when is that talent?(obligatory Hargitay snark)
Hec, your post made me rather envious. Although I have no business teaching math, unfortunately.
Gris, man, you are me. Except possibly a better girl. But fill in Homicide for the Gilmores(Whom I also like) and we are as one...Wu and Sweargin.
Drinks like a fish and no regard for human life.
Yay, Calli. Also, there are some work environments in which this statement, particularly the latter portion, would be a definite plus.
Good luck, Calli! That's good news!
Oh, I was too tired yesterday to bitch about the Cambridge landlord. I got to the apartment to take care of some things yesterday, and he had the hallway/stairs completely blocked off while he worked on something in the second floor apartment. And, of course, I had my hands full carrying empty boxes that I was gonna use to pack up stuff to ship.
I am really starting to think that they think we're just gonna leave stuff undone. He certainly wasn't expecting anyone to come by yesterday. And their behavior makes me wonder if they think we're just gonna screw them over and leave a whole bunch of shit behind and not clean. Which pisses me off on a whole new level. As my therapist pointed out last week, I have a high sense of responsibility, so this just feels like a punch in the gut on top of the rudeness and inconsiderateness of it all.
Four more days...four more days...
Also, did I mention that they ruined and lost some of our stuff? There are drips of paint and bleach on some of the furniture and spackle specks on the xBox. I took pictures of all that stuff yesterday. I need to find out what legal recourse I have to the way they've handled things over the last month. Right now I'm just documenting everything with hopes to send them a nasty letter (ccing the rent board or a lawyer) demanding some of our August rent back for their illegal behavior.
