[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Oh, wait, I'm not 12. In that case, many heartfelt congrats instead!

Also, Happy Birthday P-C.

My fave apples are Braeburn and Jazz. I used to like Jonathans and Macs, until they came out with Braeburn and Jazz, which taste just as good if not better, and tend to more crispness, the best of both worlds. I like them with peanut butter, cheddar or gjetost cheese, in pie, or all by their lonesome.

I think I have vw's depression and Deena's headache. It's even the left eye. I blame the weather. No one should have this much rain. Still this reminds me to send ~ma and punctuation to vw and Deena.

And Deena, Kara is just the most adorablest!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Apples and peanut butter utterly rock. MFN, your husband is just wrong like a thing that is wrong.

I am mostly all about the tart, and thus a big fan of Granny Smiths, but sometimes I supplement with the odd Pink Lady or two -- very sweet, but so crisp. Mmmmm. A Pink Lady that's been sitting in the fridge for a half hour or so? OMGSOGOOD. Also, very pretty.

The modern Red Delicious, OTOH, is an abomination, with the Golden Delicious not far behind. Mealy-textured apples make the baby Jesus scream like you just stuck Him with a pin.

My DH will only eat Gala apples. He misses out on so much good stuff being picky!

I have skipped like a skippy thing.

I am back from our 36 hour trip to NYC for DH's college friend's wedding on Sunday night. I went to brunch in Brooklyn on Sunday a.m. with a good friend from law school and a good friend from library school and it turned out that Jessica was there with E and family! Then we went around the corner on our way to Bergen Bagels so my DH could get a couple (because, you know, a full plate of Challah french toast doesn't fill him up) and we walked by a place called "Adam's Books." My DH says, "Last month [college roommate] told me that his brother wanted to open a bookstore in New York -- wouldn't it be funny if this was it?" It was. I spent the rest of the day wondering who else we'd meet.

Ooh, that sounds nice. I just put in some cinnamon, brown sugar and some brandy, then the creme fraiche on top. Probably too desserty though.

Punishingly Intricate

Oh! I just remembered I have some x-sharp cheddar from the farmer's market at home so I can have apples w/ pb AND apples w/ cheese for dinner! I WIN!

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Sparky, it sounds like you used up a year's worth of wacky coincidences in two days. Welcome home.

JZ, a big "Woo hoo!" for a return to the world of the vertical.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Just today, I checked out www.rileyfarms.com to go apple picking. I LOVE apples.

Thanks! I should pick your brain sometime in the next couple of weeks because I have an interview at the end of the month at a school you attended, and I really want the offer.

Catching up slowly... {{vw}}, Congrats, BT!, Happy Birthdays to various folks!

All this apple talk is making me hungry.

Ahh, yes. Do you still have my email address and cell phone number?

Thanks! Although, of course, now that I'm able to be up and about again my former desperate hunger to go back to work has completely vanished. I can walk around and write and sew and draw and go to the movies and go out visiting people! Work? Fuck that noise! Except that the doctor has already contacted my personnel office, so the jig is up.

Maybe if I make myself look extra-pale before heading to the doctor's office today, I can at least malinger my way to returning just half-time.
