Aren't they something. They're like butterflies, or little pieces of wrapping paper blowing around.

Spike's Bitches 32: I think I'm sobering up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

okay, and now I'm going downstairs to make stewed apple, maybe with a blob of creme fraiche on top.

Right? But it's actually named that b/c it's a political-activism-themed ice cream.

With delicious results.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

I think I have apples. If we hadn't had ice cream cake on Sunday and cupcakes on Monday, I would make something desserty with them. Right now, though, I'm kind of desserted out.

Mmm, apples are good.

Oh, wait, I'm not 12. In that case, many heartfelt congrats instead!

Also, Happy Birthday P-C.

My fave apples are Braeburn and Jazz. I used to like Jonathans and Macs, until they came out with Braeburn and Jazz, which taste just as good if not better, and tend to more crispness, the best of both worlds. I like them with peanut butter, cheddar or gjetost cheese, in pie, or all by their lonesome.

I think I have vw's depression and Deena's headache. It's even the left eye. I blame the weather. No one should have this much rain. Still this reminds me to send ~ma and punctuation to vw and Deena.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Apples and peanut butter utterly rock. MFN, your husband is just wrong like a thing that is wrong.

I am mostly all about the tart, and thus a big fan of Granny Smiths, but sometimes I supplement with the odd Pink Lady or two -- very sweet, but so crisp. Mmmmm. A Pink Lady that's been sitting in the fridge for a half hour or so? OMGSOGOOD. Also, very pretty.

The modern Red Delicious, OTOH, is an abomination, with the Golden Delicious not far behind. Mealy-textured apples make the baby Jesus scream like you just stuck Him with a pin.

Librarian Warlord

My DH will only eat Gala apples. He misses out on so much good stuff being picky!

I have skipped like a skippy thing.

I am back from our 36 hour trip to NYC for DH's college friend's wedding on Sunday night. I went to brunch in Brooklyn on Sunday a.m. with a good friend from law school and a good friend from library school and it turned out that Jessica was there with E and family! Then we went around the corner on our way to Bergen Bagels so my DH could get a couple (because, you know, a full plate of Challah french toast doesn't fill him up) and we walked by a place called "Adam's Books." My DH says, "Last month [college roommate] told me that his brother wanted to open a bookstore in New York -- wouldn't it be funny if this was it?" It was. I spent the rest of the day wondering who else we'd meet.
