Spike's Bitches 32: I think I'm sobering up.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
There is a part of me, hidden beneath the fitted polo shirts, wife beaters, boot cut jeans, and chuck taylors that yearns for your wardrobe and the hutzpah to wear it un-selfconsciously.
Hee! I want to put you in 50s dresses with full skirts and petticoats. Don't ask me why, but that's what the you that lives in my head is always wearing.
(Of course, right now I'm flopping around the house wearing a velvet skirt and a Gothic Charm School baby-tee, but that's what one wears when one is working from home.)
Jilli, that is so perfectly you. What hat would you wear with it though? I'm seeing something small with a lace veil in front, but I don't know if that's your kind of hat or not?
Oh, I would wear it with my regular top hat. Or my hair pulled back with enormous lace-festooned ties/scruncy things. Or a mini top hat with a chin-length veil.

Concurring.
Jilli, love the dress.
I need to go thrift shopping. Have no time until... mid-October. Grump.
I need to go thrift shopping.
Strangely, I'm cutting back on thrift shopping. Instead, I'm going to save up my spending money and use it to get things (like that dress) custom-made for me. The last couple of times I've been thrifting, I haven't really found much.
But mid-October is a good time for thrift shopping. The stores put out all the cool stuff they've been hoarding for Halloween.

I ADORE that look. Seriously. I would wear them all the time if I had them.

Time or money? Cause I missed the thrifting expedition in May, and, as far as I know, the Saturday I'm up there is clear.
Unless that was when we were planning to go make out with Chris Isaak, which hey, I'm still up for.
(TWO WEEKS!! bounce bounce bounce)
Netnanny is blocking the pic--can I get a description of your lovely, Jilli?
Today I'm dressed in clothes that are "me." But I do need to get a longer crinoline to wear with this lovely pink shirtwaist dress with a lace front. The crinoline I have only works for my other shirtwaist dresses.
It's weird--I can put together more than one work week of vintage, between 50s and 60s. I never would have guessed.
And then there's my perkygoth outfit, finished up by the masterful Jilli with stripey tights. Boy, does it ever make people stare at my knees.
Unless that was when we were planning to go make out with Chris Isaak,
TOTALLY this. :)
Seriously, money's factor, but I'm also figuring that you'll want to wander the Wharf and Chinatown instead of musty thrift shops in the Mission and the Haight.
The Wharf, yes. Chinatown I saw and, well, I've never been so claustrophobic in my life. :) What's that park across the street from the Full House house thingies?
ita, see if you can get to the picture here: [link]
(I saved the picture to my LJ scrapbook.)
The dress the usual sort of JilliDress (fitted through the torso, full knee-length skirt with ruffles), but is short-sleeved, and has a high collar and lace "bib" effect, in white, while the body of the dress is black.
