Spike's Bitches 32: I think I'm sobering up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Herding cats for fun

Good news: I received a Random Act of Kindness last week. My sister and I were parked at the curb and wondering how to proceed when it turned out the bookcase I bought on the cheap was much, much heavier than anticipated. Random guy driving past offered to help, and his girlfriend flashed the most beautiful proud smile. It took five minutes, everybody was happy and wished each other a happy weekend.

I am currently admiring the empty shelf space. It's full of possibility!

Bad news: Didn't get hired - again. Am slightly amused by the letter from HR, which starts out saying that since my experience and skills do not fit their current needs, they will continue to interview (Translation: You suck so much we wouldn't even think of having your geeky face in here every day). The letter concludes by wishing me luck in my career... at Their Organization. Inquiring minds wish to know, just exactly how is it that I will succeed in my career with you people if you won't hire me? I have evil fantasies about forwarding this letter to their President and telling him that it's a good thing his minion isn't hiring anyone smarter than herself.

So I'm in a blue funk. Even trying for the part-time crap jobs, I'm still unemployable. By now I think interviewers have a choice of objecting to my age, size, grayness and of course, the weirdness. People who like me think I'm entertaingly eccentric, but there's plenty of 'em out there who have no love for the likes of me. Alas. This is as bad as the dating scene.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sucks, Katerina. I'm sorry.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Oh, Katerina, that just sucks! I wish someone could see that you'd be a great employee. Stoopid heads.

beth, I understand the need for instant gratification. Oh, yes, I do. It bites me in the butt, too, and not in the fun way. Your wallet will be much happier if you tease it and delay that gratification for a while.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Ugh. Finally dragged my ass back to Weight Watchers, and was Not Pleased with the numbers on the scale. It is past time to get back under control, I'll tell you what.

OTOH, I am wearing really fucking adorable shoes today. So it's not all bad.

Thanks guys. Just once, I think I'll put my feet up on the desk during an interview, insult everyone and scratch myself for good measure. Let 'em see how bad it can get!

I'm going to combat my blue funk with a Good Deed.

There's a scraggly old kitty hanging around by my sister's house. Clearly she used to be a pet, and she wants to be friends. So today she gets a bath in my kitchen, then she gets a trip to the vet, then she gets to live with me before the nights get any colder.

I plan to live up to my new Mutts T-shirt: Saving the world, one kitty at a time.

The red cross just called - not for $$, but for blood - and they are just going down the phone book. (I know because it has been thousands of years since I donated blood) ( and never out here) So I have an appointment on the 15th . I feel immensley less crabby and selfish.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Yay for kitty saving and donating blood.

I am filled with gronk, so hugs and hairpats for those who need them. Problem with a holiday weekend? I forget to eat. Ooops.

What is even happening?

Oh, Trudy. Poor Curtis. Much health and a good recovery, to him.

(I suspect the brain bleed began in August, and was just identified in September. That's so August's way.)
