The girl's not playing with a full deck, Giles. She has almost no deck. She has a three.

Spike's Bitches 32: I think I'm sobering up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Good luck, vw!!

yay, juliana! Happy happies!

Baby Dedications: I grew up with a tradition of baby dedications. It's a church ritual where the parents, family and church family all dedicate to be there for the child and raise the child in a Christian home. It's a churchy community thing. Very much it takes a village church to raise a healthy, happy, Christian child.

Never are there post-dedication celebrations, except the family/extended family going out for lunch together after church. Particularly since grandparents/aunts/uncles/counsins/etc. often come in from out of town for the church ceremony. But, it's not a present occassion.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Since Joe and I aren't religious in any sense of the word, we had a blessing down on the beach in Santa Monica. We each had a balloon and we all made our wish for her and then released the balloons. And then we all went to dinner at Gladstone's.

Herding cats for fun

Go Tiggers!

and I will sue them into 2010. BRING IT.

(visualizes the Super!Lawyer!Vortex! t-shirt at Café Press)

I just took a look at the how to chop an onion instructions. It includes slicing with the knife blade horizontal. Not happening with any knife in my hands. I will have to continue in my incompetent onion chopping ways.

Right there with you. Perpedicular choppers unite!

(Waves at Beverly) Nice to see your pixels again. Hope today is going well for you.

In Me-Related News: I am going to go pick up a Big New Bookshelf today and put it in my living room across from the Wall of Books. Half price furniture from St. Vincent's is my lucky day! It's heavy and tall and walnutty and every other shelf is adjustable. I will shelve all my history-related books in it and it will be wonderful.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

My family doesn't have baby showers because we don't like to celebrate before a baby is born, so the Christening tends to be the big party event where family and friends bring gifts. With the family friends that have had baby showers, the Christening has tended to be more for immediate family and the closest of friends. Those who did bring gifts to both tended to bring a big gift to the shower and a smaller gift, like an outfit for the baby to the Christening.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Good luck, vw!

Their tops are made out of rubber! Their bottoms are made out springs!

One evening, my friend Nikki and I were wandering around Union Square singing the Tigger Song at the top of our lungs. Other than a couple people joining in, we didn't get noticed. Love. This. City.

I have no opinion on baby dedications/christenings, except to note that ZenKitty's coworker seems to be a greedy, present-hogging bitca.

{{{{Cashmere}}}} It'll be over soon, I promise. He'll be a sullen, whiny teenager before you know it! (No, seriously, I'm sure he'll be very sweet and amazingly protective of Olivia.)

Wow, that felt sorta like a cup of coffee. I'll feel tigger-ish in a few, just give me a couple hours. Feeling rather unbounced just now.
