This seems so much simpler and to the point. In fact, I'm thinking we should have done this...although some inadvertent baptism could happen.
My parent's church was a delayed-baptism thing, so I wasn't. But I wasn't dedicated either, first I've heard of such a thing. Gotta love the American Melting Pot - mix all the rituals from everybody's background together, then strain out the ones that don't involve gifts.
Speaking of rituals, the embassy Halloween meeting went about like I expected. The rest of the committee wants to set up tables in someone's yard and have the kids go table to table to get candy. I said, "We could do a haunted house in the yard! Actually, my back yard would be perfect for that."
Someone responded, "That sounds complicated, and it might be too scary. We don't want them to be scared."
Oh, right, Halloween. Wouldn't want anything scary.

5th anniversary of 9/11. Election year. Why must two of my favorite shows be on Fox, where I have to see the commercials for Fox "News"? Time to learn to love the VCR and the fast-forward button.
Regardless of the tradition of having a baptism, dedication or whatever, I don't get going to a party of someone who is not your friend.
I feel bad about August sucking so bad for so many people since it is my birth month. And my August was pretty good overall. My birthday weekend (and really the celebrations are still going on .. I am very spoiled) was crazy and fun. I am now making a list of things I want to do before I am 40 just so I can put a couple of things on it that I can already cross off. I love doing that with a list.
May September bring joy to all! So far it has brought me allergies!
