I accidentally watched ep4 first, LOVED it, and then went back and watched 1-3 and was really unimpressed. I do want to catch up with the rest eventually, but mostly to put that clip of Gillian Anderson as David Bowie into context.
I wanted to like it so much, because the book is so great, but it was just...too much. Too much slo-mo blood splatter, too much Ian McShane Ian McShaning all over the place, too much asking me to take for granted that they would eventually finish the prelude and get around to the story.
In retrospect, it was
Zombie Wife
and
Unlucky Leprechaun
that I liked most about American Gods. For the rest of the time, I just kept yelling, How do you not know who this guy is?!
spoiler font for those who haven't seen it and still might
I think that American Gods built really well. I wonder if I would have been as invested if I hadn't read the books and knew it would get really interesting.
Jon Snow and Ygritte are getting married!
Glam, what is it that you hated about it?
I hated all of the characters except for Shadow Moon. I really don't enjoy quirky. We noped out after ep3.
Has anyone watched Black Sails? IT IS SO GOOD!
I caught a couple of episodes before my cable system dropped Starz, but it was so far into the run I couldn't really follow the storyline. Production values were awesome though.
It looks amazing, has a great cast, and an ever-changing storyline. Plus, PIRATES!
