I am loving American Gods but not in a "Oh, I need to go and post about it immediately" kind of way. The visuals are mind blowing and the acting is top notch, but not much has really happened in the story so far. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm happy to ramble through this world with these characters, but the show doesn't have a lot of narrative drive. It's been a long time since I read the book, but I seem to remember that it was the same. Still, I'm willing to settle in for the long haul. Plus, the cast is very pretty. There's always that.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

This blew my mind. Mad Sweeny = Pornstache (from Orange is the New Black).

OMG! I knew he looks vaguely familiar, but I would never have figured that out without looking it up!

I too am addicted to the handmaid's tale. I was certain that Elisabeth Moss would get the Emmy for best actress, until I watched the last ep of the leftovers. OMG, Carrie Coon. Wow. She's been knocking it out of the park since the first season of this show. Gone Girl was lucky to get her. (She played the Ben Affleck's character's twin sister.) She is so good in everything, but boy howdy especially in the last episode.

I'm here to post this link, for anybody who binge watches the leftovers in the future and wants to geek out over how that perfect last ep was made. It's long and detailed and very interesting.

People who are into music may appreciate, that towards the end of the article, the 200 possible songs the music supervisor had provided to the producers at the start of the season that were not used are linked-to. I'm not a music person, I did not listen to them... It looks like you could hit play and it would go through all of them, but I could be wrong. [link]

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Carrie Coon is currently the lead in S3 of Fargo, and she's fantastic.

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

I think my all time favorite scene from The Leftovers was Carrie Coon and Regina King bouncing on a trampoline in slow motion to the Wu Tang Clan.

I'm going to miss this show so much!

My hubby and I just started Season 2 of Fargo, but I'm currently recording the Carrie Coon season.

Because books.

She was the best thing about Gone, Girl.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

This is such a strange, worlds-colliding conversation.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I have been having a lot of fun with American Gods. The places where the show has done things differently than the novel have all been good changes, IMO.

WITH THAT SAID: next week's episode is the one they're going to have to work hard to win me over about casting. I adore Kristin Chenoweth, but she's not who I pictured a certain Personage looking like.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Weirdly, I actually pictured that character as Marilyn.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I don't remember that character well enough to know how I pictured her.
