Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The Leftovers got renewed. (Commentary: [link] Is this a safe space to talk about how I'm hot for Justin Theroux even though he wrote Iron Man 2?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It'll be safer if you invite bon into it. Don't want to give her the impression you're poaching.

I wouldn't want to take her away from the baby.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I don't care much about anyone else, but I am absurdly psyched that Hoyt and Jessica are a thing again. If True Blood does nothing else right but let's this stay as is. I will be happy.

I always hoped those crazy kids would make it work in the end.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am pleased about them. And Ginger and Eric was actually kind of sweet.

It strikes me that, having veered to the farthest reaches of the OTHER side of the fiction spectrum over 7 seasons, True Blood is sprinting back to the sensibilities of the source material right here at the end.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It has a nice circularity to it.

Yep.

I wish though, that they'd either stuck with the source, or went full-bore reboot. Or, you know, come up with an original idea, rather than banking on a given fan base and then blowing them off.

In contrast, while Outlander has taken some liberties to amp up the tension in the first two episodes, I'm amazed by how completely they are (so far, of course) adhering to the source material.

I am listening to the first book (coincidental to the premiere of the show) and am struck by how much of the actual dialog is crossing the media divide.

I feel about this the way I felt about True Blood. You can't please everybody. If you stick to the source, you lose potential viewers. If you think the original has economic value in regards to its popularity, what makes changing it so attractive?

"We have trust issues." Mylar

I love Hoyt and Jessica, so even though it kinda makes no sense with where the story has gone, I'm glad the show just decided to say "Fuck it" and got those two back together again.

I cannot with the Bill/Sookie/Eric anymore. I really don't care about any of them except that Eric's Sookie induced stupid has gotten close to getting Pam killed again and if Pam dies I will cut someone. I'm just ready for it to be done. The whole show could've wrapped up for me with that dinner at Bellefleur's (nee Merlotte's) with Arlene telling Lafayette to hurry up and get to the table to eat and Lafayette's voice from the kitchen, "I'm coming, hooker." Yes. That's how everything should have ended.
