Re: Margaery

I always got the impression that the Tyrells were a close knit clan, who supported and empowered each other regardless of gender, much like the Starks and the Tullys seem to. But they also seem to be aware that they need every conceivable weapon in their arsenal in order to play the game of thrones, and thus empowered their women in ways the Starks and the Tullys (and especially the Lannisters) didn't.

Like, you get the impression Cersei had to figure out how to play the game all on her own, hence the barely concealed bitternes over not being a man, despite outward claiming to not *need* to be a man.

The Tyrells, on the other hand, seem to take great pains to make sure their women know how to play the game as well as the men, and to think they need women just as much as men in order to compete. You get the sense that Margaery was *raised* to play the game, rather than having to figure it out from watching her father and brothers. And it's very interesting that the Tyrells don't seem to keep a lot of secrets from each other -- knowing full well what Loras' sexuality is, and not caring about it, for example.

I just typed a whole long thing and then realized I can't because spoilers.

Next week's ep has Tyrell-y goodness in it, though.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I suspect not posting, rather than white-fonting spoilers, was probably the better choice, even though le nubian and I would surely love to read what you wrote.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

There's always the spoiler thread.

One of my few niggling little nit-picks with the show is that Ghost makes too much noise.

(Yes, I am rewatching the episode again for the third time since Sunday, why do you ask?)
