Also, I think that Jack being mortal, the first thing he'd want to do is commit suicide right away, so he didn't miss his chance. If he doesn't, I don't want to hear his bitching about his longevity ever again.
We don't know that he's mortal; just that he's not healing. Same as everyone else in the world. In which case, trying to commit suicide wouldn't work and would only bring him bucketloads of pain.

When's the last time he expressed a death wish? Being sad that you outlive everyone you love is not the same thing as wanting to end your existence. And he hasn't bitched about his longevity *that* much, has he? He seems to come back from the dead with quite the smirk, half the time.
Here's a good legal analysis of the issues in Torchwood - Law & the Multiverse
I just hold to the hope that being the producers are mostly British, that's just the way they think the law works in America.
Jack's had lots of time (being buried in a grave etc) to get over the whole "if only I could die" philosophy. He probably bounces around it every couple decades or so, then he meets a "Gwen" or a "Doctor" and gets a new infusion of the joy of life.
Torchwood: Gwen has been awesome this episode! I really wish there was more Gwen and Jack and less everyone else.
Rewatching the first episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day and I forgot to mention Ethan Rayne the first time!
Who was Ethan on TW?
He was one of the newscasters. He was only on the screen for a few seconds.
TB: In the first ten minutes we get drunk Eric (hilarious), Jason having a rather moving epiphany, and "Remeber Salem...it was just a bunch of Puritanettes who needed a good lay."
Even if the rest of the episode sucks, I'm happy.
Also, despite my unhappiness with their storyline so far this year, I loved watching Hoyt and Jessica save Jason, and Jessica not even giving a second thought as to how she was going to save him.
Really bad stuff for Pam though. She's not going to deal with that well.
