Premium Cable: The Cursing Costs Extra
[NAFDA] A thread for the discussion of all original programming on HBO, Showtime, Starz and other premium channels.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Treme remains good.
Yep. Thought it was a good ep with which to kick off the season and a seven month break in the story action.
Jon Seda remains unsexy. I'll have to watch it again to say anything else.
Aw, I find Jon charming and kind of adorable, but I don't trust his character worth a damn. A little too indicative of the slick carpetbaggers who streamed into the city in the aftermath.
Yes, I thought that Jon Seda's character was eminently untrustworthy.
An "Inside the Episode" for "The King's Road" - episode two of
Game of Thrones.
Sometimes I think Jon Seda is the "fetch," of Latin actors.(You know, not gonna happen)
But then that makes David Simon et al Gretchen Weiners and I can't live in a world where that might be true.
You're right...I guess I like the character, but he's a suit, and I don't trust him. Also, Falsone left some scars.
Bourdain did his best to keep the (Some critic he name-checked in his book) is a Douchebag" feud alive.(He probably is, but AB likes to stick that chef's knife in and jiggle it. And I was thinking he wouldn't fit. Nice burn, too, because if he complains, you can accuse him of being so obsessed with himself and his hatchet job that he has to look to fiction to find slights.
I'm thinking they're setting up a potential interesting dynamic with LaDonna-- unless that was Simon just fucking with us, which is, of course, entirely possible.
And I wonder if poor Arnie's going to get bent over a table by his cuz-- Arnie's a very simple creature. He sees the opportunity to make money and he'll work hard doing it, but he's not the brightest tool in the shed, whereas Nelson's all "It's not all about the money, cuz," when you know damned well it is and he's smart enough to make it happen in ways Arnie can't even imagine.
Probably.
As for La Donna, she's stepped out before.(Admittedly, with her ex, and with old-school playing on the radio...( but she so obviously settled for Good on Paper, DDS. But they had some good loving. But they are also doing the commuter thing, and most Simon marrieds do cheat.
But it did make the apparent monogamous devotion between Cray and Toni really stand out.(I miss him a lot.)ETA: Alan Richman was the Massengill in question...glad I checked because I almost put some other dude's name in there...bad wanna-be reporter, no biscuit.

Yeah, Antoine was definitely a throwback moment, but the fact that she did and they set Nelson up from the getgo as so flirty leads the mind to wonder, which is exactly when old Dave will yank the rug out from under us.
And yeah, I miss Cray, too. And I found Davis and Annie absurdly sweet, which of course, means it can't last, dammit.
The Khal/Dany rape scene was so ungraphic. I wonder if there was more filmed. And I wonder why they went that way when the text didn't.
So, I have HBO now for Game of Thrones and have been poking around. True Blood was incomprehensible whining. I'm watching Treme right now, and it's a mix of "That's where they went?!?!" and horrible terrible New Orleans nostalgia. It doesn't help that the only time I go back is for funerals.
I also stumbled onto an interesting Publicly Speaking with Fran Lebowitz. Anything else I should be taking advantage of while I have the HBO in my house?
I think that they needed to speed up the time between when Dany marries Drogo and when she starts to figure herself and become more of an equal partner.
Sophia Turner's family adopted Lady after the filming. (Sophia Turner plays Sansa.) The picture is of Sophia, Maisie (Arya) and Isaac (Bran) with Lady. Apparently, the three kids became friends on set and have continued to get together.
