Hey, you can have her. I just couldn't stand seeing a character I'd grown up with as a fairly strong portrayl of womanhood--whether that was accurate or not, I don't know, and it's not really important to me--made into a fool. A fairly pathetic fool that I had no sympathy for.

SA, GF and I felt the exact same way about her at first. Now? Love the Jane! GF even said at some point, "How do they do that?" in terms of making us end up really liking a character that we initially had no use for. This also became true of Al. At first, we were so disgusted by him as to make it unpleasant to watch. He wasn't a "love to hate" character. But again that has changed. He is still gross and mean as all get out, but a much more interesting (and fucking funny) one.
I love Jane, but at first I was disappointed too. I forgot because RW so blew me away with her portrayal. I still love to hate Swergin sometimes, but in a different way...feel some sympathy now.
Been away for a while, so I have to say something controverial and divisive. I think that is a rule, right?
Calamity Jane, the historical figure, was in fact a drunk. So were a whole slew of male American historical figures, Western and otherwise. George Washington fell off his perfectly stationary horse, during some incredibly important battle, I recall reading. Or maybe that was Grant. Anyway, one of those President guys.
That is my Deadwood lurve. History was made by people at least as screwed up as me.

Love this!
Hey, Gus... Hamsterdam's been quiet without ya, dawg. Me and Corwood been talking to ourselves and shit.(Aside from Sean's new love for Deadwood) ETA: Wirefiends may appreciate my new "campaign" icon here. [link]
Hey, erikaj! I have been in the hospital, again ... a place that has crappy cable. Just caught up with my PVR on the last few Wire s.
Marlo is showing some serious young-blood tendencies. Nail-gunning a dude for talking back, and all.
Weeds has almost stopped working. The act breaks are seven days long, with insufficient suspense/anticipation to carry me across the gap.
Bad sign.
Sorry about the hspital stay, Gus. Hope the fact that you are out means you feel chipper. Or at least chipper-ish.
I am always chipper. I am one of those eternally optimistic Pollyannas that, when you meet them, you want to crush their eternally optimistic little skulls.
