Sorry about the hspital stay, Gus. Hope the fact that you are out means you feel chipper. Or at least chipper-ish.
'Dirty Girls'
Premium Cable: The Cursing Costs Extra
[NAFDA] A thread for the discussion of all original programming on HBO, Showtime, Starz and other premium channels.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I am always chipper. I am one of those eternally optimistic Pollyannas that, when you meet them, you want to crush their eternally optimistic little skulls.
Nuh uh. You are a wire fan. This is unpossible, bunk. Those people don't laugh at the stuff we laugh at. Methane probes and whatnot. But I'm sorry to hear you've been sick.
But I'm sorry to hear you've been sick.
Thanks, sweety. It was just the usual. Our usual. Not the usual usual.
I'm hip. My usual's not usual either. Special kind of asshole.
You darn Buffistas on wheels with your specialness and secret codes and glayvin.
Speaking of special kind of assholes ... How 'bout that Marlo?
See what I did there, with the pointer back to The Wire? I may be a genius.
I am going to make a long, windy dissertation on the State of Premium Cable.
Brotherhood ended the season on a silent fart. They need to come back on a concrete arc.
Weeds is in trouble. They need to be about something, pretty damn fast.
The L Word -- I gave up mid season last year, behind a sense that it had become all about prurience.
... Ok. Maybe it wasn't that long, or windy.
Hey, Gus! So, that Marlo, you think he's ever heard the the word "hubris"?
Hey, SA and Gloomcookie, I've been thinking about something all day at work, and since you both chimed in on it, I want to bring it up for discussion. To wit:
Calamity Jane as a strong portrayal/image of womanhood? How so? The picture I've always had painted for me of Jane is not too far removed from the one shown in Deadwood. What was your image of her? I'm curious.
