Now tagless for your comfort.

I saw the ads for Dexter. Now I guess I'll have to give one a try. It didn't appeal to me initially, but DH said he was interested.

This may make us rethink our choice of what premium channel to resign with this January. Showtime is looking a lot better than HBO--the choices between The Sopranos and the possible return of Rome vs. Weeds and Dexter.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I am so excited about Rome. It's going to be awesome. And I'm so happy that it took off so well the summer before last. It was a treat to watch every week.

I'm sorry to hear about that, SA. But it's true it's not for everyone. Was there one specific...turn-off?

Actually, there was. I couldn't stand Calamity Jane.

Hey, you can have her. I just couldn't stand seeing a character I'd grown up with as a fairly strong portrayl of womanhood--whether that was accurate or not, I don't know, and it's not really important to me--made into a fool. A fairly pathetic fool that I had no sympathy for.

SA, GF and I felt the exact same way about her at first. Now? Love the Jane! GF even said at some point, "How do they do that?" in terms of making us end up really liking a character that we initially had no use for. This also became true of Al. At first, we were so disgusted by him as to make it unpleasant to watch. He wasn't a "love to hate" character. But again that has changed. He is still gross and mean as all get out, but a much more interesting (and fucking funny) one.

I love Jane, but at first I was disappointed too. I forgot because RW so blew me away with her portrayal. I still love to hate Swergin sometimes, but in a different way...feel some sympathy now.

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

Been away for a while, so I have to say something controverial and divisive. I think that is a rule, right?

Calamity Jane, the historical figure, was in fact a drunk. So were a whole slew of male American historical figures, Western and otherwise. George Washington fell off his perfectly stationary horse, during some incredibly important battle, I recall reading. Or maybe that was Grant. Anyway, one of those President guys.

That is my Deadwood lurve. History was made by people at least as screwed up as me.
