I have finally seen Dexter. It is, thankfully, just as awesome as I'd hoped it would be.
Coolness. I'm planning to watch it on Tuesdays, since that's looking like my "there's nothing I want to watch on TV!" day.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

the dead guy in the vacant lot that Bunk and the other guy CSI'd up for Kima (HILARIOUS!), that wasn't the security guard, right?

Yeah, that was some other guy, but I didn't catch on until Snoop tossed the badge down next to the row houses (which is almost certainly the clue that'll find Lester his bodies).

But I'm worried that he just got Omar killed.

That's what I thought, too, but he's been living on borrowed time for quite a while. He's almost certainly going to take out either Snoop or Paltrow first, and probably because of their willingness to turn their guns on civilians.

Finally, that scene with Marlo and the security guard was the moment at which The Wire stopped paying homage to The Wild Bunch and moved on to capturing the movie in a completely new scene. The guard knew that he was playing with fire, but he also knew that he couldn't let Marlo push around honest civilians just for the hell of it. I'm sure he didn't think the retribution would be as severe as it was, but he also knew that something might go down. Anyway, that was a scene all about changing ethics and (without any spoilage, this is just speculation) I think that murder's going to be Marlo's undoing.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

It looks like you might be able to see the first two episodes online:

Showtime will offer free episodes of some of its originals on Yahoo!, the first time a pay cable network has offered more than just one episode for free streaming on the Internet.

From Oct. 6 to 13, Yahoo! will let users stream selected episodes of Weeds, Dexter, Sleeper Cell and The L Word, as well as a behind-the-scenes clip from new drama The Tudors, currently in production.

Dexter amused me. And, oddly enough, Hall's a lot more likable as a serial killer than he was on Six Feet Under. It's a little clunky with the narration, and he's a good enough actor that it's not necessary. But I could see why you'd include it in the script when you don't know who's going to be your lead. And the Obligatory Angry Black Cop is odd, just because he seems like a parody.

And then I had to watch the ads for Sleeper Cell over and over because there was one guy on it I recognized, but I couldn't figure out where from. Finally realized it was Hank Jennings from Twin Peaks. So now I can sleep. Yay.

Robin Weigert is on The Unit tonight. I continue to be absolutely astounded by this woman's acting chops. As I've said before, every moment of Deadwood with Jane on screen is a treasure. Everything I've seen her in that's not Deadwood only serves to highlight that as she's not only good in whatever else it is, but so utterly un-Jane as to further highlight just how fine her acting is.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I just watched the first episode of Dexter, and really liked it. I had to watch a small bit of it through my fingers, but I'm used to that. I think I need to read the books too.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

er, I don't like Deadwood. Sorry. Maybe I'll say five "cocksucker"'s and one "motherfucking whore" for make up for it. But I love Entourage this much! ::holds hands open wide:: And I got into Weeds this season. Anyone else watching that? Because I'm really impressed with how funny it is, and how filled with disbelief it makes me.

I should probably get started on The Wire, because I've heard it's really good, but with all the new episodes of everything this fall I don't have time to mainline a new addiction.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I saw the ads for Dexter. Now I guess I'll have to give one a try. It didn't appeal to me initially, but DH said he was interested.

This may make us rethink our choice of what premium channel to resign with this January. Showtime is looking a lot better than HBO--the choices between The Sopranos and the possible return of Rome vs. Weeds and Dexter.
