What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So it's more the opposite line of reasoning: they assume the cops know who he is already.

The thing is, if Avon is trying to keep himself hidden, you'd think he would mention to his crew that his being kingpin is not public knowledge (off the streets, that is). I mean, this goes all the way back to the pilot: why the hell didn't the police know who he was and that he was the head of the drug trade until then?

There are always things the neighborhood people know about West Baltimore they don't tell law enforcement. The War on the Underclass, uh, Drugs, has made it so people don't tell the police things. Not unless a kid dies or something.

One of the things the series will emphasize over the seasons is how completely isolated, cut-off and insulated the Ghetto world is from the rest of the world. There are no bridges off that island.

Good point, Hecubus. One of my favorite Wire moments is when Bodie goes somewhere(New York?) and wants his favorite radio station. But in NY, it's Prairie Home Companion. Bodie doesn't know that when you leave town, the radio changes. Bodie's never been anyplace. It was funny, but also sad.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

That's on the Wire soundtrack CD, which I finally purchased this past weekend. And it's Philly, not New York, Erika. I mean, COME ON!

You know, you're right, now you mention it...although it's not that bizarre that I'd forget, is it? Lotta water under the motherfucking dam and shit. But you're the superior hardcore fan...happy now, bitch? (of course, I undercut my "hard" persona, by wondering if I should write it like this: Happy now, bitch?:) Emoticons are so not West Balmer. Instead of Snoop, or Bunk Moreland, I'm Harmony now.) I should get that soundtrack.

Also, I forgot to mention that Andre Royo is great as Bubbles. He acts with his whole damn body; there's always a part that's moving, like Bubs is constantly wired, unable to be still.

If Kima's dead, I'm gonna have to choke a bitch.
