Aren't they something. They're like butterflies, or little pieces of wrapping paper blowing around.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I swear, they have the best conversations in the Pit. Chicken McNuggets!!

I think this Lester character was in a couple scenes. Examining an...armoire?

I can sort of see why erika compared Jane and Bubbles. They both seem sort of downtrodden and cast aside. But I loved the thing with the hats! That was slick.

I also like Lt. Daniels, who I first knew as the creepy dude on Lost.

The interdepartmental politics are kind of hard to follow. I don't understand why they're not supporting this Barksdale case. It seems like the real deal to me, come on!

I liked Herc and Carver before, and now they're a couple of twats. So perhaps I will withhold judgment.

This second episode was better, maybe just because I actually had some background for what was going on this time! I can see that the individual episodes aren't really...individual episodes. They're just the way the story is doled out. In episode-sized chunks.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Oh, that hat scene is AWESOME.

Always Anti-fascist!

Yeah, just one of the millions of times Andre Royo deserved the Emmy and didn't even get nominated for it.

I love Lance Reddick. I'm very excited that they cast him on Fringe.

Yeah, me too. I looked him up and realized he was also on Oz ! So that's actually how I first knew him.

This episode's Awesome Pit Scene: the chess lesson!

I'm really liking D'Angelo, too. He seems like a good kid in a bad business. Which worries me that he's going to meet a tragic end.

Speaking of tragic ends, Bubbles is pretty awesome. But he's playing a dangerous game! How has he not been found out yet?

Lester! Quietly going off and finding a picture of Avon Barksdale! I wonder what his deal is.

Motherfucking Deputy! I hate his stupid ass. Stop gutting the case!

And, what the shit, that's Omar? The awesome character everyone thinks is awesome? The bad guy who steals from other bad guys and shoots kids in the kneecap ?? I am going to have to wait and see why people like him so much. I had always assumed he was a cop, one of the good guys.

Daniels is dirty?? Shit! Right after I said I liked him, too.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Hee, watching P-C watch the Wire is very fun.

Daniels *was* kinda-sorta dirty. In the Simonverse, everybody is. It's all in the game. But he's *pretty* clean, right? You'll find out the awesome that is Omar, but if you're looking for total white-hats, switch to the West Wing.(I wanna write a Clay Davis/WW crossover someday. Sheeit.)

He seems pretty clean now ! I did get that the implication was more that he had been dirty. That of course does call into question his relative cleanliness now, especially for the idealistic McNulty. (What is with McIdealists? McNulty, McManus...)

You'll find out the awesome that is Omar, but if you're looking for total white-hats, switch to the West Wing.

Ha. Good lord, erika, I love Oz. I obviously don't need total white-hats!

Always Anti-fascist!

I always thought it must be some kind of shout-out that both Oz's McManus and Homicide's Bayliss were both Tim.(Somewhere Barry Levinson's college roommate who was too sweet to live, gets the shoutout.)

I don't know that Bushy Top wears it on his sleeve like McManus, and you'll find he doesn't have much of a political ethic.(That doesn't stop him from getting laid at Parents' Night, but I digress.)

Ok, you're good then. Lots of people are not comfortable with a showrunner that calls the American ExperimentTM a "Ponzi scheme" so I thought I'd prep you some...don't mean to get all lecturey and stuff, and don't get me wrong, I loved when Toby Ziegler saved Social Security in the dead of night and shit, but on "The Wire" he'd have been SO fired. (Not Following The Chain Of Command.)

ETA: It's clear from this that I love Bushy Top, right? So much so that I wrote an essay about it, not that you should read it now if you want to stay unspoiled.ETA2: My feelings about McManus are a bit more complicated as I am a total McManus and totally believe I could save the world with my liberal wisdom even when the world wants me to fuck off.

Which is different from Jimmy...does it piss off the bosses? Cool...Jimmy's into that, even if it's stupid.
