What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Speaking of warming up, The Wire is on my computer and ready to go in a few days. I'm in HIMYM mode at the moment, but I'll be starting The Wire next week at the latest.

Always Anti-fascist!

Good plan, youngblood. If you post about it, don't forget to put the dots in. The commander likes the dots. I think of that quote a lot as there is so much paperwork in my life. I didn't start at the beginning, just started with Season Two and was confused for three episodes...it's a great show that could still be my favorite when that happens.

Warming up like a motherfucker, huh?

Had to take it offline because I blistered my keyboard.

Enjoy The Wire, O Spectral Bovine!

Punk-ass keyboards they make nowadays...of course if they made them in Balmer instead of Indonesia...don't get me started... and, bunk, I wish I could shake your hand in person right now because there is a crowd of twelve that would appreciate that little bit of meta-fied goodness, and I'm thinking you're one. This may sound like bull, but The Wire has been a life-changing TV experience for me, not to get all Stuff White People Like in this bitch.

The first episode was...very long. And I like McNulty and Bunk and those two other cops (um, the white dude and the black dude). I'm not really certain who everyone is or what the hell is going on with, er...D'Angelo? The defendant at the trial who got booted down to the Pit? I guess his storyline shows us the other side, so we get to see how Barksdale's crew operates at the same time McNulty and Co. are trying to nail them? (Also, is that Kenny Wangler?? Why am I being subjected to that bastard again?) And then there's a lesbian cop who has a test or something? I don't know.

I've heard it takes a few episodes to get into.

Herc and Carver. It's not designed so that something big happens in every episode. Not having spent time in the "Simonverse" before, is the language a challenge? And you won't know what's going on for a couple of eps at least. still worth it.

Yeah, them! I picked up on Herc's name but not the other guy's. I kept looking for this Omar guy everyone loves but could not find him.

Dammit! I like big happenings!

What do you mean? It seems fine to me. Doesn't seem that different from any other cop show.

And you won't know what's going on for a couple of eps at least. still worth it.

Woo!

In retrospect, the pilot itself feels like it's in the middle of the third season of some television show.

Yeah, the first few episodes are all about planting seeds. There's no wasted moments. When the big happenings start to hap, they'll be that much more.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

You'll get to know Omar soon, and ditto Bubbles and Lester. Those are all on my list of big big loves.

It takes a bit of time to get to know all these characters, just as much as the plot -- They aren't instant, "here's the guy who fits this generic slot" intros. I also found that it was worth rewatching the first few eps because I know myself well enough to know that I was going to be kicking myself if I realized I'd missed something crucial after sending the disc back to Netflix.
