Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Especially Swegin. Especially, of course, except for all the other cocksuckers.

Ganked from Matt Fraction: Nick Hornby interviews David Simon in the August issue of The Believer.

Money quote:

My standard for verisimilitude is simple and I came to it when I started to write prose narrative: fuck the average reader.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I listened to the commentary on S1 Ep 11 the night before last, which consisted of Simon and Pelecanos talking about how they love to work in references to favored eateries and how both love working in subtle payoffs that leave the casual viewer in the dark.

Also, I feel for you, Amy. When Deadwood ran out, a little part of me died. Like a throat-slit hoople in the dark.

Always Anti-fascist!

Dag, wanna see the rest. As well as hear "true dat" and "narco" in a Londonish accent(mos def) The part I always hated about journalism school was writing for "Joe Sixpack" come to think of it. I'm glad to know I wasn't just being an arrogant pisher thinking maybe Joe should read a fuckin' book. Or twelve. (ok, maybe it was a little arrogant.)

Punishingly Intricate

Baltimore has this Stoop Storytelling series that David Simon took part in a couple of month's back. I haven't heard it but know he talked a bit about the upcoming Wire season.

(Also, check out some of the other shows, like the one the latest one. My friend told a story for that one.)

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Flight of the Conchords continues to be hysterical. The mermaid number had me on the floor. Also, Murray saying the word "fuck"!??!?? I was shocked.

As for John from Cinc...huh? Seriously, WTF was that? We lost Deadwood for this? We wuz robbed, and Milch has lost his fucking mind.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I admit, I still don't know WTF is going on on John from Cincinnati, but I am hooked good and proper. That there's a "they" that wants to sponsor Sean (whatever that means) and that John's father has a father but John's mother is his father (or his father is his mother, I forget which he actually said) has me all intrigued.

We lost Deadwood for this? We wuz robbed, and Milch has lost his fucking mind.

And now it's been cancelled. I wonder if the cancellation makes the Deadwood movies more or less likely to happen now.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

And now it's been cancelled.

So the season finale is now the series finale? Well, that was a whole lot bizarrotude with not much payoff. Not quite the monster unfinished business that was the Twin Peaks finale, but at least with David Lynch it felt appropriate as an ending, infuriating as it was.

Yep.

ETA: Never mind. I reread the piece and answered my own question.
