FWIW, the original nillying event was a post-guide for west-coast viewers to skip over east-coast W&P of Buffy -- not because the snooty west-coasters weren't interested, but because they wanted to do their own flailing at the moment that worked for them.

So, nillying and providing skip-points to a W&P has a long and honorable tradition! I do tend to read through them myself (guessing at what is actually going on when somebody posts, "Oh no! Weepy alert!" or "If you make that face too much it will get stuck that way, Sam."), but I don't think a request for nillying should be intended or taken as a "take your squee elsewhere" notice.

The only time that I've found the SPN dvd watch and post disturbing was when it interfered with the live BSG finale Watch and Post.

Otherwise, just a normal skip and skim for me, if I'm not joining in.

I don't think that the SPN W&Ps are misusing the thread in any way -- I'm annoyed by them because I'm annoyed by all W&Ps. (Even BtVS when the show was airing live. It's a thing. I just don't like them.)

But I'm well aware that that's my own issue. If someone wants to put in a skip link, I'd be grateful, but in the meantime I'm used to skimming.

I still think some sort of voluntary check box for major show titles that would put a bold inset of the show name before a post would be useful. However, I am not wed to it and just skip and skim and hope I see any posts of subjects I am looking for.

In other words, it would be nice, but I can live without it. I've been on the participation side of W&P of my favorite shows, so I figure I can let others do the same. Who knows? perhaps I'll watch SPN some time and get hooked, myself.

We are going to need a bigger boat new Boxed Set soon, though.

I think it's more important at the start of a discussion, or when someone is posting about a different show (e.g. suddenly switching to Eureka when the most recent string of posts has been about Dresden Files).

I would be REALLY strongly opposed to discussion of another show taking over our Buffy & Angel thread, even if it is low volume. That would feel disrespectful of our origins to me.

The W&P'ers seem to be having such a good time. My only problem, and it's very minor, is that if you post about something else during a W&P, it's likely to get lost.

This is sort of off-the-wall, but if people start wanting to do this with other shows that have recently come out as DVDs, maybe we could just establish a W&P thread. (B5 W&P, anyone?)

I don't watch SPN, but this is the right thread for it, so having the w&p here is cake; having a link to the end of it for the convenience of skipping would be icing.

I just remembered that during the HEROES lightbulb discussion there was supposition that SPN probably had more posting going on for it and the current numbers bear that out (the fact that HEROES went on hiatus so soon after the thread went live, coupled with the lack of DVDs, is a major factor - I'm curious how the numbers go in HEROES since there's so much antici....pation for the next round of new episodes).

When I notice the big jump in posts in Boxed Set it means suck and skim time. It brings a smile to my face to skim the flailing. It amuses, doesn't annoy. I may even watch the show some day.

The only time I get frustrated in this thread is when there is a lot of show discussion overlap. My brain gets confused! If SPN and Eureka add characters named Lee brain will explode. At those time a show note at the beginning of the post would be most helpful. If someone has a sudden Eureka or BSG question or comment in the midst of the flailing they should post away with a show tag.

Also, next week SciFi Friday returns! Whee!

My point about putting the name of the show in your posts is that you can then search through combined W&Ps for the show that you are talking about.
