Zoe: Captain will come up with a plan. Kaylee: That's good. Right? Zoe: Possibly you're not recalling some of his previous plans.

Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

well, I wasn't saying nillying whatever conversation pops up amidst the w&p. From what I could tell while skipping and skimming, nothing about other shows was talked about during the w&ps, so I don't think I would miss anything by clicking on a skip to here link. which is why I like the idea.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

As long as that's the general understanding, it seems like that should work well.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

God I don't want to even get into this...

But the whole conversation is kinda making me feel like the w&p - of a show that belongs in Boxed Set - is unwelcome. I get that there are people that don't participate or care, I do.

I don't even know what I want to say here. I am typing and deleting and typing and deleting and ... lather, rinse.

The w&p posts are grouped and nothing tends to happen in the middle. So a quick skim would get most anyone that doesn't care past it within a click or two.

I don't have any particular issue with someone offering to link a "skip to the end" once we're done flailing, but I kinda feel like I shouldn't even be participating in the w&p because it is sticking in craws.

There's the part where I could lobby for the okayness of the dvd w&p while the show is on hiatus (which is the only time we are doing these), and then there is the part where I really don't want to have to fight that battle in the thread where SPN is discussed.

I mean, we talk about lots of shows in here. Some I love, some I watch randomly, and some that aren't my beautiful cake. But this is the thread we've created and I am okay with skipping things that don't grab me.

Cass is me. I think I've typed and deleted about a page worth of posts, because I'm not sure how to say what I want to.

On one hand, I get why people would want to skip over the whole W&P, and I want to facilitate that, but on the other, it kind of feels like we are being thread nannyed at the same time, especially when it comes to asking if it's okay if we do a W&P before we start, and after all, this is the thread where SPN is discussed.

Far be it from me to harsh your squee, dudes. It's irrelevant to me how it's done, because I'm not in a position to participate, so for me it's just skipping over two hundred or so posts on a Friday. Since I'm not going to read the posts anyway, having a skip to here works for me. But that's about as far as it pings my radar.

Pretty sure I have typed the equivalent of War and Peace tonight. And then, you know, deleted it so I could retype all over again.

I want to be a good neighbor, but I ...

I have no analogy.

FWIW, it seems like a perfectly cromulent use of Boxed Set to me. It also doesn't bother me at all, but that's really beside the point... well, my point, anyway, which is the cromulence.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I feel an announcement or warning in advance of a dvd W&P is a little excessive, and that the posts we do setting up ep, day and time is, you know, an announcement.

I do understand the disappointment, though. I feel much the same way when I see bunches of new posts here, and find acres of whitefont over ahemmed shows that I won't likely see until and unless they're aired. By the time they are aired, there won't be much discussion, and honestly, no matter how I promise myself I'll go back and read the discussion, I know I won't.

As for the question at hand, realistically, we've only three S1 eps left, so SPN dvd W&P will be out of the thread shortly anyway. But if W&Ping dvds slows down or disrupts discussion of currently airing stuff, I do think the board could use a dvd thread, for Farscape, or Highlander, or SG:1 dvds, or even The OC, Wonderfalls, Due South, Slings and Arrows--if it's on dvd and a handful of people want to set up W&P dates, I'd like to do it where I don't feel I'm disrupting discussion of current shows.

I don't think it slows down or disrupts discussion, and it is a perfectly good use of the thread. I do think that, since it's limited to the people who participate in the w&p's, that a skip to here is both sufficient and useful for people who want to bookmark the discussion (since it does tend to be in sequence without other discussion in between) and who want to skip the discussion. Hence the original suggestion remains the best one, IMO.
